Shine is a Public Social Partnership (PSP), led by Sacro as the Lead Partner, providing a mentoring service to women with experience of the justice system across Scotland. The Shine PSP is made up of third sector delivery partners, funding and commissioning partners and works closely with wider community agencies.

We are recruiting for an individual who will be responsible for providing excellent customer service and administrative support to a range of partners including Shine Mentors, the National Partnership Manager and external stakeholders. The Stirling Extended Wellbeing Service (EWBS) is aimed at supporting the work of our well established Caledonian Women and Children’s service

The successful candidate will work with women who have been referred to our Caledonian Women’s Service but whose risk has been effectively managed and who are stable in terms of their safety but whom still have on-going issues related to the trauma they have sustained. The EWBS Support Worker and the woman would work together and maintain focus on mental health and wellbeing, empowerment, personal growth and independence. The EWBS support worker will regularly link in with our Caledonian Women’s Service to ensure that risk and safety continue to be monitored.

We are looking for candidates who have a sound knowledge of domestic abuse (what it is and how it works) and who understand the effects on the women and children we support.

Sacro’s current Veteran’s Mentoring Services is developing an exciting new project called ‘Changing Steps’. This post is split between providing support within HMP Glenochil (up to 3 days per week) and the wider community. The service aims to support people who have completed service with the Armed Forces and have a criminal conviction for a sexual offence and are nearing liberation from custody.

The service will focus on working with this group of service users, who often find themselves socially isolated from traditional supports and excluded from many community resources. The post holder will assist veterans to recognise and develop their life skills including, addressing their fears, supporting them to access external agencies and partners, including our own Veterans Mentoring Services. This will enable service users to build the confidence to make critical changes in their lives. These critical changes include addressing their offending behaviour, taking responsibility for their behaviour, support to engage with statutory and voluntary services, making positive choices about free time and using the ‘Good Lives’ model to live safely in the community offence free.

The post holder should be able to demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work both as part of a team and independently is required. A lived experience of the military or experience as part of a military lifestyle would be highly desirable for this post. Experience of inter-agency working advocacy and support are essential. A Criminal Justice Support Worker is required to provide support and advice through structured mentoring for females who are involved in the Criminal Justice System. Support needs vary enormously dependent on criminogenic needs/risks, examples include: addressing offending behaviour through the delivery of behaviour change programmes, supporting service users with mental health and wellbeing, exploring housing options, compliance with statutory orders and supporting service users to access education/employment.

Experience of working with women in the criminal justice system is essential. The ability to use initiative and organise workload within a pressurised environment is essential. Successful applicants will be flexible and imaginative in their approach and sensitive and confident in their ability to help service users. We work very closely with local authority commissioners and service and are contracted to deliver both statutory and non-statutory services. We receive funding from Scottish Government for some activities and we deliver some projects via partnerships and with funding from grants and trusts.

We are looking for an enthusiastic person to coordinate and support the business development needs of our leaders and managers, preparing compelling and relevant proposals, tenders and reports and ensuring the process of developing bids is well managed according to our strategy and values.

You will develop and nurture relationships with funding stakeholders, providing a key link between them and the relevant internal teams.

You could be from a commissioning or third sector background, but you should have a strong knowledge and experience of tendering and procurement processes and ideally bidding process for grant and trust funders. You will be very organised, and be able to work to tight deadlines

Sacro in partnership with Right There is delivering ‘Your Home’ a Housing Support Service in Edinburgh. The service aims to have a positive impact by providing help to prevent homelessness and promote and encourage independence.

We are currently seeking a team member to assist in the development and provision of this service. The post holder will provide support to service users who are at risk of future homelessness at the earliest possible stage with the aim of preventing escalation of issues which can lead to homelessness. The post holder will also provide support to individuals in a residential Rapid Access Accommodation service, supporting them to move on to a more stable tenancy. Support needs vary enormously but examples include: providing assistance to access benefits and health services/ training/education and employment opportunities; addressing antisocial behaviour, resolving conflict and improving relationships, developing social support networks and general living skills e.g. budgeting, cooking, shopping etc.

Bail Supervision, Arrest referral and Diversion Service (South Lanarkshire)

This will involve a public health approach to justice and encourage recovery and community integration to support people to change behaviours and lifestyles in a positive manner.

We are looking for applicants who would like to be considered for the role either on a full-time or part-time basis.

The service works in partnership with Justice Social Work and ADP and provides a community alternative to remand for individuals appearing at South Lanarkshire Courts, Police Scotland Custody Suites or being diverted from prosecution.

You will assist in the delivery and development of the day to day running of Bail Supervision, Arrest referral or Diversion services under the direction of the Team Leader and Community Justice Manager. You will be involved in the assessment and appropriate monitoring/support of service users, including home visits. You will be responsible for the management of data relating to service users, preparing written reports for Social Work and the Sheriff Court and liaison with other agencies.

All posts require the ability to use initiative and organise workload within a pressurised environment. We are looking to recruit an Educational Gardener to help us to maintain our established garden in the Bellahouston Allotment over the winter period. You will have extensive horticultural experience, preferably with experience of or an interest in food growing and/or wildlife gardening. A proven track record of developing and managing projects and experience of working with volunteers/community work. This role is advertised at 7.5 hours per week.

Necessary skills and qualifications include;

• Demonstrable experience of successful project planning from idea, through implementation to completion.
• Minimum three years’ horticultural experience with good technical knowledge of plants, tools, horticultural processes and strong plant identification skills.

Service Users may have complex issues around homelessness, addictions and care and support needs in addition to offending behaviour. We are particularly keen to hear from individuals who have a lived experience of the justice system or who have personal experience of recovery. A knowledge and understanding of the justice system, legislation and the complex and chaotic needs of individuals is desirable. You should be able to demonstrate good communication skills and be skilled at developing positive working relationships with both colleagues and those who come into contact with our services. Additional skills, which will be necessary include good organisation and IT skills. Successful applicants will be required to be flexible in approach and can travel across the Glasgow Council area. You will work closely with local support services and partner organisations. You should be committed to helping others into a crime free life.

Experience of working in a supporting role is desirable and a recognised qualification is desirable although full training will be given.

You will be committed to helping service users access areas that promote crime free life choices, promote training, education, healthy life choices and pro social activities in their communities. The development of Peer Volunteers will also be a part of your role as the service develops over the lifetime of the project.

You will be responsible for delivering direct support and mentoring interventions to BAME women affected by domestic abuse and Honour-Based Violence (HBV) and for maintaining accurate case notes. You will operate within the Scottish Government’s Equally Safe Strategy as well as Sacro’s policies and procedures and will escalate any safety/well-being concerns around adult and child protection to the Service Co-ordinator/Service Manager. Support needs of women in the justice system vary enormously, examples include drug and alcohol misuse, experience of abusive and or exploitative relationships, physical and mental issues often alongside chaotic lifestyles resulting from past traumatic experiences.

The post holder will be responsible for the development and implementation of Shining on, Shine Women’s Mentoring’s new pilot project. The post holder will have a role in developing Shining On nationally incrementally, with the service being initially launched in the Forth Valley area. The aim of Shining On is to provide ongoing support to women beyond the 6 months of formal mentoring Shine currently provides. Shining On will be delivered to women by volunteers, recruited and managed by the post holder. Their aim is to provide further support and encouragement to women continue on their positive journey, building self esteem and reintegration back in to the community, moving further away from offending behaviours. Knowledge of the justice system and experience of working with women within it is desirable. Experience of coordinating and developing services is also desirable.

We are currently seeking a team member to assist in the development and provision of this service.

The post holder will provide support to service users who are at risk of future homelessness at the earliest possible stage with the aim of preventing escalation of issues which can lead to homelessness. The post holder will also provide support to individuals in a residential Rapid Access Accommodation service, supporting them to move on to a more stable tenancy.

Support needs vary enormously but examples include: providing assistance to access benefits and health services/ training/education and employment opportunities; addressing antisocial behaviour, resolving conflict and improving relationships, developing social support networks and general living skills e.g. budgeting, cooking, shopping etc.

You should be able to demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills. The ability to work both as part of a team and independently is required, as is experience of partnership and inter-agency working. Experience of working in a residential setting supporting individuals with complex needs is desirable.

We are looking to recruit a highly motivated individual to supervise and manage the staff team and operations within some of our Community Justice Services in Scotland, for an initial 12 months in the first instance. You will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the service, albeit the role will include work across all areas of operation within Sacro.

The services will include working across existing services and in the development and delivery of new services cantered on helping people with a justice needs, recovery needs and areas to maintain or improve their quality of life. This can enable them to have meaningful and positive involvement and participation in their local communities. This post will be working across justice areas that have a public health approach to behaviour change and support recovery.

Responsible to the Service Manager, you will oversee the day-to-day operations ensuring that a high-quality service is provided. Knowledge and experience of justice as well as addictions, mental health and recovery approach in Scotland are essential. Duties include line management of service staff, selection and recruitment of staff and volunteers, payroll duties and responsibility for managing a caseload.

You will be a creative self-starter with excellent organisational and communications skills. The ability to use initiative and organise workload within a pressurised environment is essential. You will have an interest in working with people who have been involved in offending, promoting their rehabilitation. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team are essential as is the ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds. Experience of delivering group work activities would be an advantage. You will also be required to assist service users to develop or acquire new skills.

You should have good basic decorating, gardening and DIY skills and the ability to pass these skills to others.

Sacro in partnership with YPeople is delivering ‘Your Home’ a Housing Support Service in Edinburgh. The service aims to have a positive impact by providing help to prevent homelessness and promote and encourage independence.

We are currently seeking a team member to assist in the development and provision of this service.

The post holder will provide support to service users who are at risk of future homelessness at the earliest possible stage with the aim of preventing escalation of issues which can lead to homelessness. The post holder will also provide support to individuals in a residential Rapid Access Accommodation service, supporting them to move on to a more stable tenancy.

Support needs vary enormously but examples include: providing assistance to access benefits and health services/ training/education and employment opportunities; addressing antisocial behaviour, resolving conflict and improving relationships, developing social support networks and general living skills e.g. budgeting, cooking, shopping etc.

You should be able to demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills. The ability to work both as part of a team and independently is required, as is experience of partnership and inter-agency working. New Routes offers males serving short term custodial sentences a ‘through-the-gate’ mentoring and support service providing practical and emotional support to help them move back into the community and begin to build a life free of offending.

We currently have the opportunity for a full-time mentor to join our Edinburgh team.

The males referred to New Routes are matched with a mentor while in prison. The mentor will start to work with those referred to the service while they are in prison, to develop their independence and social skills, link to appropriate services, explore aspirations, identify goals, and put in place achievable steps to improve their quality of life. This support and advice continues after release from prison where mentors can accompany them* to appointments and advocate on their behalf where appropriate to help them with re-integration into their local community and to achieve stability.

Sacro works in partnership with Edinburgh City Council to provide a Travel Service for Edinburgh families who require assistance to visit relatives who are serving custodial sentences or long-term hospital stays out with the Edinburgh area. The Service is operated with a team of volunteer drivers.

The postholder will be responsible for the day-to-day work of the service and the coordination of other volunteer activities within some other Sacro services under the direction of the Throughcare Team Leader and Manager.

The requires good communication, presentation and coordinating skills in engaging with volunteers, the Scottish Prison Service & NHS Hospitals, family members and other stakeholders and colleagues.

Young People’s Supported Accommodation Service

The Housing Services Manager in our Young Peoples Supported Accommodation Service is a critical role within our organisation, providing an excellent opportunity for a highly motivated and experienced manager to manage an established and experienced team in delivering high quality housing supports, as well as maintaining key funder and partner relationships.

The role involves managing a small, supported accommodation unit, and an outreach housing support service for young people in Elgin. This involves managing and supporting a skilled team of support staff to ensure the efficient and safe delivery of outcome focused services to vulnerable people.

Candidates should have extensive experience of Housing Services, managing staff, a practical knowledge of budgeting and monitoring systems and be IT literate. They should also be able to evidence effective partnership working and excellent communication skills. The successful candidate should have experience of creating service opportunities through working closely with funders and other stakeholders to identify and design new business opportunities.

The Housing Services Manager will be part of Sacro’s senior management team and as such must be capable of building effective working relationships across the organisation and contributing to key strategic objectives by being part of working groups, tender submissions, and project teams to contribute to the future development of Sacro.

It is essential the post holder is educated to at least SCQF Level 8 or above (Higher/SVQ Level 4 or above). You will be working as part of Another Way, a service that works with women involved in or at risk of selling or exchanging sex. You must have experience of providing assertive outreach to ‘hard-to-reach’ groups, as well as an excellent understanding of the support needs of women involved in the transactional sex. One full-time post has become available within Sacro for Criminal Justice Support Worker to join our established Bail Mentoring team in Glasgow.

The service works in partnership with Justice Social Work and provides a community alternative to remand for individuals appearing at Glasgow Sheriff Court.

You will assist in the delivery and development of the day to day running of Bail Mentoring under the direction of the Team Leader and Community Justice Manager. You will be involved in the assessment and appropriate monitoring/support of service users, including home visits. You will be responsible for the management of data relating to service users, preparing written reports for Social Work and the Sheriff Court and liaison with other agencies.

All posts require the ability to use initiative and organise workload within a pressurised environment. Knowledge of the Justice system, substance misuse, homelessness and/or complex needs and of the relevant services available in Glasgow would be an advantage. Shine Women’s Mentoring Service is a national service providing mentoring support to women in the justice system, currently serving a short-term prison sentence; remanded into custody or subject of a Community Payback Order and who choose to engage and work with Shine. Support needs of women in the justice system vary enormously, examples include drug and alcohol misuse, experience of abusive and or exploitative relationships, physical and mental issues often alongside chaotic lifestyles resulting from past traumatic experiences.

The post holder will be responsible for the development and implementation of Shining on, Shine Women’s Mentoring’s new pilot project. The post holder will have a role in developing Shining On nationally incrementally, with the service being initially launched in the Forth Valley area. The aim of Shining On is to provide ongoing support to women beyond the 6 months of formal mentoring Shine currently provides. Shining On will be delivered to women by volunteers, recruited and managed by the post holder. Their aim is to provide further support and encouragement to women continue on their positive journey, building self esteem and reintegration back in to the community, moving further away from offending behaviours. Knowledge of the justice system and experience of working with women within it is desirable. Experience of coordinating and developing services is also desirable.

We are looking to recruit a Criminal Justice Support worker to work with people who are subject to statutory and non-statutory court disposals as additional support to compliment work being undertaken by Justice staff. You should be able to demonstrate good communication skills and be skilled at developing positive working relationships with both colleagues and those who come into contact with our services. You will be required to have experience of working with people involved in the Criminal Justice System. Additional skills, which will be necessary include good organisation and IT skills. Successful applicants will be required to be flexible in approach and have the ability to travel across North Ayrshire.

Experience of working in a supporting role is essential and a recognised qualification is desirable although full training will be given.

The STOP service is the only service of its kind in Scotland delivering behavioural and attitudinal change programmes to individuals charged/convicted of Sectarian or other Hate crime offences.

We currently operate in Lanarkshire, Glasgow and East Dunbartonshire. The post holder’s primary responsibility will be to carry a caseload of mediation cases involving disputes between neighbours. The service works in partnership with Justice Social Work and provides a community alternative to remand for individuals appearing at South Lanarkshire Courts.

You will assist in the delivery and development of the day to day running of Bail Mentoring under the direction of the Service Team Leader and Service Manager. You will be involved in the assessment and appropriate monitoring/support of service users, including home visits. New Routes offers males serving short term custodial sentences a ‘through-the-gate’ mentoring and support service providing practical and emotional support to help them move back into the community and begin to build a life free of offending.

We currently have the opportunity for a full-time mentor to join our Edinburgh team.

The males referred to New Routes are matched with a mentor while in prison. The mentor will start to work with those referred to the service while they are in prison, to develop their independence and social skills, link to appropriate services, explore aspirations, identify goals, and put in place achievable steps to improve their quality of life. This support and advice continues after release from prison where mentors can accompany them* to appointments and advocate on their behalf where appropriate to help them with re-integration into their local community and to achieve stability.

A knowledge and understanding of the justice system, legislation and the complex and chaotic needs of individuals is desirable. You should be able to demonstrate good communication skills and be skilled at developing positive working relationships with both colleagues and those who come into contact with our services.

Additional skills, which will be necessary include good organisation and IT skills. Successful applicants will be required to be flexible in approach and can travel across the Glasgow Council area. We are looking for candidates who have experience of leading multicultural teams to provide an excellent level of service to Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) women affected by domestic abuse and Honour Based Violence (HBV). You must have experience of working with vulnerable people from diverse backgrounds as well as an excellent understanding of the effects and issues facing BAME women affected by domestic abuse and HBV. You will need to be an effective communicator in English and one additional BAME language, highly organised and have effective team management skills.

You will be qualified to Postgraduate Diploma in Counselling/Psychotherapy with 2 years’ post-qualifying experience, and have a good knowledge of trauma counselling, health inequalities and assessing risk for domestic abuse and HBV. You will work closely with other partners and agencies and be expected to ensure the continued development of good partnership working.

A Criminal Justice Worker is required to provide support and advice through structured mentoring for females who are involved in the Criminal Justice System.

Support needs vary enormously dependant on criminogenic needs/risks, examples include: addressing offending behaviour through the delivery of behaviour change programmes, supporting service users with mental health and wellbeing, exploring housing options, compliance with statutory orders and supporting service users to access education/ employment. Experience of working with women in the criminal justice system is essential.

The ability to use initiative and organise workload within a pressurised environment is essential. Successful applicants will be flexible and imaginative in their approach and sensitive and confident in their ability to help service users.

Multi-Agency working is crucial as Sacro work in partnership with Fife Council Criminal Justice Social Work to provide a holistic support service to service users in Fife.

You should be able to demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills. A relevant qualification is desirable but is not essential.

The Fife service is now seeking to recruit highly motivated individuals to fill the above post.

This challenging role will involve delivering practical, bespoke interventions to people attending the custody suites in Fife. The role encompasses supporting people to seek the help they need through a wide network of partner agencies within our communities. Often the people you encounter will be at a low point in their lives so you must be able to show empathy and forge a connection during that ‘reachable moment’, then back it up with the ability to create strong, trusting relationships which support people to access the help they need.

If people describe you as; level headed, a listener, compassionate, patient, a great communicator, hard worker, resilient, dedicated, great in a crisis – and you have the energy and commitment to always go the extra mile to support people effectively then we would like to hear from you.

The role demands regular evening weekend work, followed up with community outreach support during the week. The post holder must have a deep understanding of the causal factors of violence and present as “credible” to those we support, through their own lived and professional experience. The post holder will have a proven track record in this field, preferably backed up with a professional qualification. A personal knowledge of the criminal justice process would be desirable for this post.
