MND Scotland is the only charity in Scotland dedicated to supporting people with MND, their families, and friends.

Since being founded over forty years ago, MND Scotland has provided practical, financial and emotional support to anyone affected by MND whilst also funding essential research into finding effective treatments and a cure.

MND Scotland is funded entirely by donations and grants. The charity’s patron is Her Royal Highness, the Princess Royal.

Everything we do, and the way in which we do it, puts the MND Community at our core. The Welfare Rights Advisor’s role is to ensure provision of the advice and practical assistance needed to maximise the financial support available to individuals and families affected by MND.

Reporting to the organisation’s Welfare Rights Lead, you will ensure that people with MND and their families have access to the benefits to which they’re entitled. Ensuring provision of the advice and practical assistance needed to maximise the financial support available to individuals and families affected by MND. You will work with people affected by MND to identify their entitlements, based on their individual circumstances, and submit appropriate applications. Liaising with public bodies, as required, assisting clients in navigating often complex application processes and ensuring speedy access to benefits. Reassuring people with MND that they are being supported through a difficult situation.

You will be a highly motivated individual, have experience in welfare and benefits, have excellent communication skills and enjoy new challenges. A clear understanding of statutory welfare and benefits systems and processes is essential. As well as an awareness of the barriers faced by people with significant illnesses in society. This will enable people with MND to spend their precious time building special memories with their families, rather than worrying about their finances.

Stroke Association. Rebuilding lives after stroke.

When stroke strikes, part of your brain shuts down. And so does a part of you. That’s because a stroke happens in the brain, the control centre for who we are and what we can do. We are looking for a Communications Officer to support our team in Scotland to respond to Scottish media enquiries, delivering campaigns to influence health policy and support our fundraising and engagement comms activity.

Reporting to the PR Manager, the role will help deliver key media campaigns that call for change to support people to rebuild their lives after stroke.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Working as a team to deliver a proactive, effective and 24/7 press office, building relationships with identified media and opinion formers, and ensure timely media responses based on organisational and reputational priorities.
• Working with the Campaigns and Public Affairs team to deliver influencing activity to key health board stakeholders, Stroke Association campaigners and the general public.
• Working with the Stories team to identify and deploy the real stories of the stroke survivors we work for.

You will have experience of:

• Generating media coverage in Scotland, ideally in the charity sector.
• Using media to deliver calls to action to the public (eg donating, fundraising, campaigning) and/or decision makers (eg policy change).
• Planning, executing and monitoring media plans against identified briefs and overarching objectives.
• Working alongside Policy and Public Affairs colleagues.
• Creating, posting, and managing social media content.
• Reputation management and working with crisis communications teams.
• Working with colleagues from across an organisation to identify media volunteers (case studies) and developing stories to deliver media coverage.

This role requires occasional travel across the UK to attend team days, conferences and researcher events. Candidates must be able to meet this requirement of the role.

Healthy Valleys is a community-led organisation committed to providing outstanding local services that help preserve the mental and physical health and wellbeing of individuals, families, and communities living in rural South Lanarkshire. You’ll lead on the development of our bike hire scheme and community hubs, manage the small staff and volunteer team, and drive the development of partnerships and commercial opportunities.

The ALLIANCE is excited to be recruiting a Discover Digital Development Officer.

‘Discover Digital’ is a project to raise awareness of digital tools which promote health and wellbeing. Its current aims are enabling outreach and inclusion, promoting digital and health literacy, developing meaningful signposting and supporting the wider digital health and social care landscape.

The role of the Discover Digital Development Officer sits within the Digital Hub at the ALLIANCE. The main focus of the role will be to deliver the intended outcomes of the Discover Digital project. These are:

• Use service design approaches to develop and promote the Discover Digital Guide as a learning resource
• Development and provision of online and in-person Discover Digital workshops and the roadshow package, also using service design principles

The successful candidate for this role should have:

• Knowledge of the digital health and social care landscape in Scotland
• Knowledge and understanding of service design approaches
• Understanding of the issues affecting disabled people, people living with long term conditions and unpaid carers
