Midlothian Sure Start is a dynamic, award winning third sector organisation. It offers a quality support service to families with children up to age 12 across Midlothian. Midlothian Sure Start has been in existence since 2001 and employs over 70 members of staff providing a service in Family Learning centres and in the community. We are currently recruiting a part-time Development Officer within our Perinatal team, to support the delivery of our Open Kindergarten and HENRY projects and other activities across Midlothian, providing supportive opportunities for both parents/carers and children. This will involve coordinating, reporting on, supporting and assisting in the day-to-day delivery of family learning activities across the centre.

Experience supporting families, working with parents and promoting services within the local community is essential, as is experience of delivering groups e.g. PICL, Peep, AGS or equivalent however full training and induction will be provided.

Barnardo's Highland are developing a new partnership service with the Highland Council, supporting care experienced children and young people with complex and additional needs.

This is a new service within Highland which will look at the individual needs of children and young people and develop bespoke residential care packages using a right based, trauma informed approach working with the whole family around the child.

The team working with the children will enrich their lives through care, support and activities which will be aimed at raising self-esteem, promoting a sense of mastery, and enabling the children to access experiences that are individually tailored to their interests and nurture their talents. The team will work with the wider partnership to ensure that Educational and Health needs are met.

SVQ3 level qualification in Health and Social care or equivalent is essential.

About Aberlour Family Matters South Ayrshire

Aberlour Family Matters works in partnership with South Ayrshire Council and offers support to mums and dads who have had children permanently removed from their care. You will offer individual and group support alongside relationship based and strengths focused whole family support where appropriate. You will also work with South Ayrshire Council partners to ensure the voices and experiences of parents, carers and practitioners can help support the ongoing improvement of the permanence process. The project has been funded by Scottish Government since April 2022.

You will build up relationships with families facing disadvantage and work together with them to assess their strengths and needs and deliver an agreed family plan, offering emotional and practical support. You will work individually and in groups to strengthen health and wellbeing, building esteem, skills and confidence.

What we are looking for....

We are looking for a kind, committed and experienced individual to join our team.

You will have experience in working alongside partner services and families who have often experienced the impact of trauma, poverty, and social exclusion. You will have good listening skills and be able to plan, deliver and evaluate a range of family and wellbeing support strategies which help families to their own solutions. You will have experience of child and adult protection issues. Your values should be aligned with The Promise, GIRFEC and UNCRC as well as Aberlour values. You must share our vision that collaborative working, relationship based, strengths focussed early intervention is the best option for children and families who are feeling overwhelmed or excluded.

We have three roles available, 30 hours per week (2 posts) and 22.5 hours per week, these hours will be planned and worked flexibly Monday - Sunday 7am-10pm to meet the needs of families we support. This post is currently funded until 31st March 2025, however we will be actively seeking funding to extend this further.

It would be helpful if candidates hold a valid driver’s licence and have use of a car for working hours, the role will cover the whole of South Ayrshire.

About Unaccompanied Asylum Seeking Children (UASC)

Aberlour Child Care Trust is leading a Partnership of Highland Council, Barnardo’s Highland Services and Right There to provide practical support care and integration to Unaccompanied Asylum Seeking Children (UASC).

The location for this role is 5 Huntly Place, Inverness, IV3 8HA.

This partnership focuses on three areas: Feeling safe and settling in, support and integration, throughcare aftercare with the aim of improving the lives of children by using a rights-based trauma informed approach.

The service will work in partnership to ensure that the young people have access to education and learning opportunities.

What we are looking for....

We are seeking to recruit 2 Project Workers to work 37.5 hours per week for a fixed term period to 31st March 2025. You will support the Service Manager in planning support and integrating Unaccompanied Asylum Seeking children into the community. You will engage with the young people helping them to find their way around the community. You will have problem solving abilities to enable them to participate fully in having their needs met and participate in opportunities to develop. You will support the young people to travel independently around the local area and learn to use public transport. You will also support them to pursue their hobbies and interests linking in with community groups and access community facilities. As English will often not be their first language you will work with them to identify their communication needs, adapting your communication style accordingly. You will also liaise with local agencies, developing collaborative professional working relationships working together for the benefit of the children. You will also attend a range of group meetings to discuss the progress of the children and young people.

You must be comfortable working in a culture based on respect, integrity, innovation and the ability to challenge - both yourself and other people.
