The role of the Women’s Advocacy Worker has been developed through a comprehensive understanding of our community members' needs and the extensive support they require.

In this position, the individual will provide and manage impartial, confidential advice and advocacy services on a wide range of issues. These issues include, but are not limited to: welfare benefits, debt and financial management, housing, energy advice, employment, education, and challenges faced by Scotland’s new and emerging communities. Additionally, this role involves supporting women who have experienced domestic abuse, collaborating with partner organisations to mitigate the risks faced by these women and their children.

The worker will focus on empowering women in our community to make positive changes in their lives.

The National Advocacy Service (NAS) Advocacy Worker will be part of the RCS NAS team. The NAS provides support and advocacy to survivors who are engaged, or considering engaging, with the criminal justice system following an experience of sexual violence. This RCS NAS team supports the work of delivery centres in the NAS network by providing additional capacity in the form of flexible, front-line advocacy support to survivors of sexual violence where their local advocacy team is unable to provide cover.

This is a key role in Glasgow and Clyde Rape Crisis Centre’s survivor services teams that provides specific support services to girls and women. The role requires a strong commitment to anti-discriminatory and equality work and must demonstrate experience working directly with girls and women. The post holder will be comfortable and confident in representing the service externally across agencies. Experience and understanding of working within an organisation that operates within a feminist, equality, and human rights framework is preferable for this role. Joining an already established team, this role will work closely with the Service Manager for the Project, while also being accountable for maintaining and applying the values, principles, and competencies of the role to the Director of the Centre.

MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• To offer trauma-informed support to women and girls who have experienced any form of sexual violence at any time in their lives in the form of telephone support, face-to-face support, group work, email support or another form of communication agreed upon with the line manager.
• To provide support via community-based drop-in locations across Glasgow, Inverclyde, East Renfrewshire, Renfrewshire, East Dunbartonshire and West Dunbartonshire, or in further and higher education campuses in the same areas.
• To liaise with external agencies for referrals coming in to or being made from GCRC. Link with relevant agencies to promote the support service, including health services, police and support agencies as appropriate.
• To undertake triage assessments with survivors on GCRC waiting lists.
• To contribute positively to your practice's practical evaluation and reflective assessments.
• Participate in regular support and supervision sessions with the line manager and prepare regular reports, including statistical data for monthly case reviews.
• Attend internal meetings as required and appropriate to the post.
• Participate in new volunteer and other internal or external training as required
• As directed by the Service Manager, attend meetings of relevant operational networks, partnerships or groups so that links with other organisations can be made or strengthened and the needs of survivors met.
• To record and file all statistics/information about support as required by Glasgow and Clyde Rape Crisis.
• To comply with GCRC’s Operational and Professional Practice Policies and Procedures.
• To adhere to the organisation's values, competencies and performance framework.
• To uphold GCRC’s reputation as a positive ambassador and in representing organisational positions.
• Participate in ongoing training as provided by GCRC and take responsibility for ongoing personal development, including access to external support.
• Any other duties relevant to the support worker post that have been agreed upon with the line manager.

Fife Women’s Aid are looking to recruit a full-time worker to join our Court Support and Advocacy Team.

Candidates should have good communication skills and a passion for supporting recovery from domestic abuse.

The successful applicant will have at least SVQ Level III or equivalent level of qualification in health and social care or other relevant subject, or a willingness to work towards a qualification.

The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate a high degree of motivation and have the ability to work on their own as well as part of a team. An ability to cover on-call is an advantage (additional payments are made for this role).
