We are looking for an enthusiastic Project Officer to join Fast Forward’s Going Forward Programme Team. This role will have a focus on formal and informal education settings, and youth participation.

Fast Forward is Scotland’s national youth work agency, focusing on supporting children & young people to make informed choices regarding, and take a harm reduction approach to, risk-taking behaviours, towards reducing the negative impacts of these on their lives and those of their families and wider community.

Going Forward Project Background

Since May 2017, the Going Forward Project has worked with partner organisations to deliver workshop sessions to vulnerable and at-risk young people in formal and informal education settings. Our sessions focus on core themes of health, wellbeing and risk-taking behaviours, particularly:

• substance misuse (alcohol, drugs, tobacco, e-cigarettes/vaping)
• sexual health and relationships
• online safety
• drink spiking
• consent
• self-esteem and resilience
• gambling harms

Youth Participation In line with United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC), Fast Forward is committed to developing our children and young people's participation work. We want children and young people's experiences, opinions and suggestions to shape all aspects of our work. This role will play a key part in supporting this development, embedding a child rights approach to our work. This will include developing our children and young people's Shadow Board.

You will be helping disabled people feel unstoppable. As Family Support Team Lead in the North of Scotland you will be delivering vital support to families affected by spina bifida and hydrocephalus.

You will be the person who will empower them to reach their potential, offering one to one support and coordinating chances for people to get together, make friends and build their support network.

You will be the person that raises awareness of spina bifida and hydrocephalus within the community and with service providers to ensure that no one affected by our conditions feels alone.

Role reports to: CEO

Key duties and responsibilities:

To be as unstoppable as the people we support.

• To coordinate the delivery of engaging social groups for our children, young people, adults and their carers.
• To provide one to one support to people with spina bifida and hydrocephalus and their families – offering specialist information and advice.
• To work with families and people with spina bifida and hydrocephalus to help them advocate for services and support.

To be a team player who unifies people around our cause.

• To liaise and work in partnership with other statutory and voluntary organisations to respond to and develop resources to meet the needs of service users.
• To manage and motivate a small team of sessional workers and recruit volunteers.
• To work with fundraising and communications colleagues in identifying stories that can promote the work of the charity and motivate our service users, supporters and staff.

A commitment to continuous learning and improvement.

• To provide regular analysis of the service’s impact.
• To ensure that reporting and recording of all service user intervention is accurate, up to date and secure.
• To gather data and feedback to learn from failures and apply learning to improve processes and service delivery.
• To ensure all Safeguarding disclosures and regular updates are notified and recorded as per current SBH Scotland guidelines.

About the role

You will work as part of a team to support people experiencing homelessness and working towards recovery from gambling harm. You will also work with people affected by someone else’s gambling issues.

Partnership working will be central to this role. You will work alongside Cyrenians colleagues, 3rd sector, statutory partners and service users to shape the delivery this project.

You will be an outgoing individual with excellent organisational skills with a creative and innovative approach. You will be committed to promoting inclusion, and will have experience of working with people with a broad range of life experiences. You will have experience working 1:1 with people, and ideally in delivering group work.

This new role will manage the smooth deployment and ongoing operation of our new case management system. You will assist end-users with system usage, troubleshoot issues, provide training, and collaborate with technical teams to enhance system functionality.

You will be educated to Degree level or equivalent, experience of working within IT projects or similar and being involved or coordinating and leading training. Experience of D365, collaborating with cross-functional teams, project management experience, exceptional communication and IT skills are essential.
