Due to successfully securing new funding from Smarter Choices Smarter Places, we have an exciting opportunity for a passionate and inspirational Gear Up Education Worker who wants to make a difference to the health and wellbeing of people through enabling engagement with cycling.

You’ll teach cycling, engage people with active travel, work with schools and educational organisations, and support the development of events and partnerships.

This role is subject to a PVG Disclosure Scotland check, which will be paid by Healthy Valleys.

Due to the requirement to travel around rural communities, the postholder must have a full, clean driving licence, access to their own transport (with appropriate business insurance) and be prepared to drive the Healthy Valleys van.

Due to successfully securing new funding from Smarter Choices Smarter Places, we have an exciting opportunity for a skilled and passionate Gear Up Mechanic who will support the maintenance of our bike and eBike fleet, as well as engage our communities with Active Travel and support them to develop their own skills in this field.

You’ll assess, service, repair, and maintain all types of bikes and eBikes, help train others in bike maintenance, and support the development of events and partnerships.

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Knowledge and Information Manager to lead our recently expanded Knowledge and Information team. In this role you will have responsibility for leading the development of our highly regarded information and resources, to support, and empower everyone affected by Crohn’s or Colitis. This includes our evidence-based online and printed publications, web content, research summaries and other information, ensuring it is relevant, and accessible to all.

You will be driving new initiatives and developing tactical plans for the team which meet our strategic objectives.

You will be a member of the charity’s Management Development Forum, providing leadership across the organisation and liaising with the Senior Leadership Team and contributing to the leadership, planning and delivery of cross-team projects.

About You

You will be skilled in the translation of complex medical and health information into engaging and accessible patient information, and have experience of working with patients and healthcare professionals to develop information resources in line with recognised standards.

You’ll be:-

• Managing the development of Crohn’s & Colitis UK’s repository of evidence about Crohn’s and Colitis.
• Experienced in appraising research and translating this for patients and the public
• Proficient in measuring the effectiveness of a promotion and dissemination and use of information
• Working with both our external and internal stakeholders.
• A skilled multi tasker, able to prioritise and meet deadlines.
• And you’ll have a calm, consistent and flexible approach to work with a commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion.

About Revive MS Support

Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is an incurable, degenerative, disease that causes progressive damage to the brain and spinal cord. There are around 17,500 people in Scotland with MS, and they typically live with multiple symptoms which often have a devastating impact on many aspects of their everyday lives.

Revive MS Support is the only charity in the West of Scotland providing nationwide support for people who are affected by MS. The charity was set up in 1984 by people living with MS and their families, and helps people manage the physical, emotional, financial, and social impacts that come with a diagnosis of MS.

Our services include an MS Specialist Nurse; Physiotherapy and Exercise; Welfare & Benefits; Speech and Language Therapy; Counselling; Advocacy; Complementary Therapies; Podiatry; Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy; support for carers; an extensive social programme; and a Café.

Last year we supported 733 people with MS through nearly 13,500 completed appointments across our range of services, and welcomed a new service user, on average, every day our centre was open.

The Role

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Communications & Engagement Manager to manage and develop the communications, marketing, media profile, and engagement of our charity. The successful candidate will be proactive and creative, with the determination to raise the profile of our unique charity’s work to support people affected by MS. You’ll also work closely with our fundraising team to ensure our income matches our ambition.

Holiday entitlement is 28 days a year (of which 3 are taken between Christmas and New Year), along with 10 additional public holidays. Our pension scheme has employer matched contributions of 3% or 5% of salary, and death in service cover is also available.
