The role
Cycling UK believes that cycling enriches people’s lives and is an essential ingredient in happier, healthier communities. Our mission is to enable millions more people to cycle, and our development projects across Scotland are a vital part of achieving that mission.
This project will bring the learning from all Cycling UK’s place-based projects in Scotland to deliver activities and opportunities to enable people to walk, wheel and cycle, for local journeys, leisure, and adventure. Our development officer team are embedded in local communities, working closely with community organisations, local business, and public sector agencies to:
- Bring organisations together to coordinate their activities and offers, to add value to what already exists and identify what additional activities are needed.
- Deliver a range of walking, wheeling, and cycling activities, from pre-school and family cycling activities to health and heritage walks, adaptive cycling sessions for disabled people, confidence building sessions and learn to ride lessons for every age and ability level.
- Provide access to a range of cycles for people to try on short or long-term loan, supporting individuals to find a cycle and support that works for them and signposting them to partners that can provide funding for purchases.
- Work with local organisations to upskill and build the capacity of volunteers to deliver activities in the community.

Training and Events Coordinator

Working with colleagues across Third Sector Dumfries and Galloway, the Training and Events Coordinator will take the lead on coordinating the development of a training programme for social enterprises and the wider third sector across Dumfries and Galloway, as part of TSDGs annual training calendar, designed to develop and support a strong third sector across Dumfries and Galloway.
The Training and Events Coordinator will engage with third sector organisations and networks such as our Social Enterprise Dumfries and Galloway Network, to establish the sector’s needs and will work with teams across the organisation to develop training opportunities.
They will work with colleagues to secure attendance, liaising with our communications team; coordinate events on the day; analyse feedback and implement recommendations to develop future training opportunities.
The UK Shared Prosperity Fund is a central pillar of the UK government’s Levelling Up agenda and provides £2.6 billion of funding for local investment by March 2025. Development Officer, Social Enterprise

As part of the Economic Development and Enterprise Team, the Development Officer role will develop social enterprise activity through capacity building support.
The Development Officer will support the delivery of the Third Sector Dumfries & Galloway Social Enterprise Strategy and our alignment with the national Social Enterprise Strategy. The Development Officer will develop resources, and provide advice to new and existing social enterprises to support them to grow and thrive, and realise their full potential within our local communities and economy.
As a colleague in the Partnership and Communities workstream, the Development Officer for Social Enterprise will also be involved in sector events and projects for the third sector working with colleagues across the organisation.

In this interesting and varied part time role you will be responsible for the Trust’s volunteering, educational, and mental health programming. Managing a team of two, you will call on the whole charity to support you in your work, integrating programmes into the fabric of the charity’s operations at every level. The Community Health and Wellbeing Coordinator will support third sector organisations to contribute to building community health and wellbeing across Dumfries and Galloway.
Developing resources, providing advice to sector organisations and contributing to events, the Coordinator will be central to supporting community health and wellbeing activity, creating and promoting support and capacity building opportunities and supporting in the development of community health and wellbeing resources.
