We are looking for youth workers who are available on Friday afternoons, Saturdays. The beauty of being a sessional worker is you can vary your hours from weekly to monthly sessions. Our group ages are: 7-10 years old, 11-16 years.
We are based at WHALE Arts Centre, Wester Hailes but we take our young people throughout the city and beyond.

Youthzone - Relief SW
Youthzone provides playful, fun and engaging weekend respite sessions for disabled young people aged between 10-16 years old. The aim of the service is to support the young people to develop their self-help skills and social skills as well as building a social/peer group whilst giving their parents some weekend respite. The young people can participate in a range of activities including arts and crafts, cooking, trampolining, puzzles, basketball, outings and many more. Activities are based on young people’s interests and the young people are encouraged to let us know what they would be interested in trying the next time they attend the service.
About the role
We are currently recruiting for Support Workers/Practitioners to work in our weekend services for children and young people with additional support needs based in Edinburgh. We are looking for people who can provide fun, meaningful activities such as baking, arts and crafts, games, sports, trips in the community and outdoor play to support young people to have lots of fun!

The Service
Our Edinburgh Young Persons’ Service provides visiting housing support and supported accommodation to people between 16 and 25 years old who live in Edinburgh.
We support young people, who have been in care, experienced homelessness, trauma or any disadvantage to overcome the challenges they may face whilst helping them to achieve their own individual goals and shape their lives for a more positive future.
This can involve finding a suitable home, learning the skills to manage it as well as possible, working through life challenges, trying new things, and learning to see the best in themselves and fulfil their unique potential. We also have supported flats which vary in the level of support offered to suit the needs of the people who live there.
The Job
We have an exciting opportunity for an ambitious and motivated Support Worker to join our team and improve the lives of people supported by our Edinburgh Young Persons’ Service.
In this role, you will be supported to work using a person centred and trauma informed approach and develop effective relationships with young people affected by a range of problems, supporting them to cope in difficult times and working towards a good life. Our Ethos is to provide unpaid carers with a range of high quality support services which enable them to have some normality of life whilst carrying out their caring role. Our Vision is that all carers get the help and support they need to sustain their caring role. We are in the 4th year of a projected eight year contract to deliver appropriate support services to young carers in schools, colleges and the community in the North West Locality of Edinburgh.
