Role
Survivors of Human Trafficking in Scotland (SOHTIS) is looking to recruit new Trustees to join our Board. Ideally, we would value applicants with experience in the following areas, other expertise will also be considered: IT, Financial Management, Local Government and Marketing & Communications.
About our Organisation
SOHTIS is a Scottish Registered Charity and Limited Company by guarantee. Our main mission is to ensure the recovery and long-term wellbeing of survivors of human trafficking in Scotland. Supporting them to rebuild their lives, minimising the risk of re-trafficking and empowering their integration into society. We are a small but dynamic and visionary organisation, using our influence to strengthen policy and practice in Scotland. The organisation is governed by a group of dedicated Trustees who are invited to serve a four year term, at the end of which time they may be eligible for re-election.
The role is voluntary and unpaid, however, we hope that working with our team to see freedom and transformation in the lives of the most vulnerable people in our communities will be a rewarding experience.
Time Commitment
The Trustees meet on a quarterly basis to shape organisational strategy and provide accountability and governance. In addition, there may be one or two additional meetings on specific topics should the need arise. Meetings are currently held remotely and it is anticipated that this may be a more convenient way of meeting in the future. Between meetings, Trustees provide advice and guidance on their specific areas of expertise.
The Board of Trustees is also supported by our Advisory Group of experts. Our Development Manager reports to the Board and supports our passionate team of staff, consultants and a growing team of volunteers.
The Candidates
We are looking for individuals who will:

- work effectively as part of a team An understanding of human trafficking in Scotland is an advantage but not essential.

Authentic Voices Project Manager

DVVA and the Protecting People Strategic Support Team based within Dundee Health and Social Care Partnership are seeking a passionate and dedicated Authentic Voices Project Manager to play a pivotal role in amplifying the voices and experiences of individuals with lived experience within strategic planning and decision-making forums. This will include an initial focus on the protecting people partnerships and committees. This position is instrumental in supporting a whole system culture shift in strategic spaces and ensuring that the needs, perspectives, and insights of the individuals we serve are authentically represented and integrated into the development and improvement of our programs and initiatives.
The post holder will be employed by Dundee Volunteer Voluntary Action and co-located to work as a member of the Protecting People Strategic Support Team (based within Dundee Health and Social Care Partnership).
Ideally you’ll have experience of supporting the engagement of people with lived experience as well as networking with a variety of partners and stakeholders. You’ll be able to balance the differing needs and expectations of those you are working with to facilitate successful working relationships and outcomes. Qualified to degree level in a relevant subject, and with significant working experience, you’ll have experience of project management and delivering change programmes.

One of the newly appointed trustees will provide succession to the Honorary Treasurer position. The specific skills required for this role are accountancy, and specifically experience in any or all of financial reporting, management accounting delivery or oversight, auditing or general financial management. Fulfilling an existing role or a recent past role in any of these domains will be required, and any experience of non-executive roles using your financial specialism in the charity sector would be a bonus.
We are especially keen to attract trustees with experience in Digital technologies and specific knowledge of professional practice in health, social work , and justice with experience strategic service delivery for children in need of care and protection.

Bereavement Support Service Lead – Scotland

Child Bereavement UK helps families to rebuild their lives when a child grieves or when a child dies.
We support children and young people (up to the age of 25) when someone important to them has died or is not expected to live, and parents and the wider family when a baby or child of any age dies or is dying.
We provide training to professionals in health and social care, education, and the voluntary and corporate sectors, equipping them to provide the best possible care to bereaved families.
Child Bereavement UK has an exciting opportunity for an experienced manager to lead on the provision, evaluation and ongoing development of a Scotland-wide Bereavement Support Service that ensures families and professionals can access high-quality bereavement support when a baby or child has died, or when children or young people are bereaved. The Bereavement Support Service Lead will also support the strategic development of the Charity’s services in Scotland.
In this role you will:
- Lead/manage/contribute to and further develop the provision of a blended model of bereavement support across Scotland
- Provide training, consultancy, and support for professionals whose work brings them into contact with bereaved families
- To collaborate with partners to develop bereavement support services across Scotland.
- To support Child Bereavement UK’s Fundraising Team in the generation of sustainable income to fund our Scottish operations, providing information and data to support applications and reporting.
This is a new role and initially will require a regular presence at our offices in Finnieston, Glasgow. Once established, hybrid working will be an option.

Applicants should have a recognised, health, social care, or counselling qualification, experience in working with children, young people and families, excellent communication skills and be passionate about supporting bereaved families and those whose roles bring them into contact with these families.
