Role Purpose

This is a permanent role within Scran Academy with the core purpose of leading and managing the delivery and development of our Academy Programme.

The successful candidate will help change the lives of young people facing poverty by supporting them through a year-long programme of learning in a youth work setting. Each year the post holder will support a cohort of 15 young people at S4 and S5 to guide their own education and gain positive experiences through a blend of vocational training, accreditation, 1-2-1 delivery and outcomes-driven youth work.

We are an organisation committed to the welfare and safety of young people. The Academy Programme Lead will be a co-lead in our safeguarding processes, and be a key player in ensuring child protection is paramount across the organisation.

We are a youth-led organisation. Young people come to us to learn in a bespoke way. They set their own outcomes and goals, and co-design the nature of the programme accordingly. This means both relationship-building and record-keeping are absolutely central to the role. Using a Theory of Change approach, the post holder will be expected to compassionately support young people to dream big, developing unapologetically ambitious goals and achieving meaningful steps towards them, tracking impact along the way through tailored planning, delivery and evaluation.

We are an independent SQA centre, allowing us to offer young people the opportunity to gain qualifications outside of the classroom. Leading a team of youth workers, the post holder will design and deliver exciting, experiential learning sessions for the programme that maximise positive impact for young people. They will also proactively engage in all necessary compliance and training required for the SQA, and ensure continuous capture and celebration of young people’s progress.

The Academy Programme Lead will be key to ensuring young people are engaged with opportunities across our organisation.

The post holder will act as a critical relationship builder and point of contact for young people on the programme, and be the operational link for families and referral partners, including schools.

We are looking for a flexible, creative and child centred experienced Learning, Care and Therapy Practitioner to join our multidisciplinary team. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a creative service that is remodelling integrated therapy, care and learning for children and young people affected by neurological conditions.

The Centre includes an independent school for children and young people with profound and multiple learning disabilities and is one of Scottish Government’s seven Grant Aided Special Schools. Education provision includes early learning and childcare, primary and secondary provision. The Centre also provides a range of learning and therapeutic services that support families and practitioners throughout Scotland.

The children and young people attending the school and nursery experience complex health and learning needs, while families supported through wider Centre services are affected by a broad range of disability impacting on motor function and learning. The Centre is highly resourced in terms of specialist staff, technology, and equipment to facilitate therapy and development. Our aim is simple; to support children, young people and their families to attain and maintain the highest level of holistic wellbeing possible.

Multidisciplinary teams around the child work collaboratively alongside parents maximising the benefit from Centre and community resources to give children and young people exceptional experiences to achieve ambitious outcomes. You will have an opportunity to work across the range of Centre services with children of all ages from prenursery through to 18 years. Our ethos is to get it right for every child helping children and young people gain the knowledge, skills and attributes needed for life in the 21st century.

Successful candidates will be required to be registered with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) within 3-months of appointment and maintain registration throughout the period of employment.

Successful candidates will be required to undertake a Disclosure Scotland (PVG) Check.

Successful candidates will be able to continue in or join the Strathclyde Pension Fund.

The Research Analysis Lead role is to provide high quality research and analysis support to the Iriss team. There are a number of specified key activities attached to the role.

CSWO ANNUAL REPORT SUMMARY

Iriss is funded by the Office of the Chief Social Work Adviser in the Scottish Government to undertake the analysis, and produce an overview, of the Chief Social Work Officer (CSWO) Annual Reports.

These annual reports are a means for Councils to report on the delivery of social work services in their area, highlighting key activities, developments, and challenges. The summary report document that you will produce is intended to highlight key themes drawn from the reports received to improve understanding of the performance, improvement and challenges being experienced across the sector.

ADULT SUPPORT AND PROTECTION (ASP) BIENNIAL REPORT SUMMARY

This report provides a summary of the main themes emerging from the 32 ASP biennial reports from across Scotland, giving a general overview of the ASP landscape. Iriss is funded to analyse and report on behalf of the Scottish Government and the report you complete will be submitted to them.

ASP QUARTERLY DATASET ANALYSIS AND PRESENTATION

Iriss has been involved with the ASP community in Scotland over the last three years to develop a new minimum dataset that ASP Committees can report against. That is now complete and the 32 Committees have started to submit quarterly against this new dataset. The type of data collected include demographic and referral route information, as well a number of other agreed on key areas. The role for you here will be to collate, analyse and visually present this quarterly data back to ASP practitioners and the Scottish Government.

Who we are looking for

This role would suit someone with the following qualities and experience:

• Desk/literature research and analysis skills: We are looking for someone with experience of theming and coding large amounts of material as this role involves the secondary analysis of research and reports.
• Clear and accessible writing style: Key delivery areas of the role are synthesising large amounts of narrative and written material from reports and succinctly summarising that material.
• Qualitative data analysis, interpretation and presentation: Ability and familiarity with the production of graphical representations and data visualisations and an ability to carry out data quality control, validation and collation for large data sets is required.
• Spreadsheets: An advanced level of using MS Excel/Google sheets to analyse and present data is essential.
• Good communication and diplomacy: This role will involve working closely with colleagues from Iriss and the Scottish Government to consider, draft and communicate these findings.

Specific experience in the third (charity) sector and/or social care/work areas are desirable but not a requirement.

• Analysing Chief Social Worker Officer reports for key themes
• Summarising literature and presenting it in a clear and accessible way
• Meeting Scottish Government funders to talk through findings
• Meeting with Iriss colleagues to decide how to best communicate the findings from a literature review

Key Accountabilities:

1. Delivering fundraising priorities and targets for trusts and the foundation's income, including our current and future major appeals.
2. Researching, identifying, and prioritising appropriate trusts and foundations to maintain and convert a pipeline of new, prospective trusts and foundations.
3. Working with colleagues across the organisation to help shape projects for funding and creating strong Cases for Support to ensure effective applications.
4. Writing and submitting high-quality targeted funding applications.
5. Managing relationships with existing and new funders to encourage maximum funding, multi-year funding awards, and repeat funding.
6. Monitoring outcomes, updating the Funding Matrix, and producing timely reports and information as required externally by funders and internally for Management reporting.
