Role

We are looking for an additional Cook working 12 hours per week over 3 days (Friday to Sunday 2pm – 6pm) The job requires you to undertake planning, preparation and provision of nutritious meals for the children and young people with complex disabilities and autism who visit for short breaks or who live more permanently within the service.

We pride ourselves on providing a quality environment for the children and young people we support at the Options Moray service and involving them in the things that impact on their daily lives is an important part of how we work. In consultation with the young people and your colleagues, you will plan menus which are nutritious and meet particular dietary needs, whilst providing food that the children and young people enjoy. This could include catering for children who are diabetic, from ethnic minorities, who require fat free diets etc. The team also eat on shift as they work over mealtimes so this must also be considered in menu planning ie vegetarian, vegan etc.

You will be responsible alongside the Monday to Thursday cook for purchasing food and kitchen equipment within an agreed budget.

Given the vulnerability of our children and young people, cleanliness is a high priority and you will ensure that the kitchen and kitchen equipment is maintained at a high level in accordance with current environmental health legislation.

An important part of the role is to keep up to date, accurate records regarding food storage and the temperatures of fridges, freezers and cooked foods in accordance with current Environmental Health Legislation.

You will participate in devising and planning cleaning schedules and also complete any required paperwork.

You will require to hold a Food Hygiene certificate (REHIS intermediate or equivalent)
