The Finance Team are looking for a self-motivated and enthusiastic Finance Officer to join our busy National Service team. The successful individual will be well-versed in the functionality of finance as a whole and have an ability to work to deadlines, whilst maintaining excellent accuracy in all aspects of your work. You will report to the Operations Manager (Finance).

Responsibilities

• Carry out Finance and administrative tasks of the Finance department e.g., process supplier invoices, set up and maintain supplier accounts, ensure correct approval for expenditure is obtained, make daily and weekly bank payments, post weekly bank transactions, liaise with suppliers, reconcile supplier statements, maintain filing systems and deal with any internal or external queries.
• Contribute to the development of the Finance department.
• Demonstrate and promote the Carr Gomm values on your day-to-day work, being those Choice, Control, Interdependence, Respect, Openness & Honesty and Efficiency, Joint Working and Involvement.

Principle Duties & Responsibilities

The post-holder will:-

Establish and maintain contact with people affected by homelessness and/or multiple complex needs who use the service. This will necessitate working effectively with people who experience mental and physical ill health, substance dependence, offending, rooflessness and other support needs as appropriate.

Work as part of a team to help deliver an immediate response to individuals seeking assistance with homelessness, benefits, mental health and addiction support and safeguarding concerns, and help alleviate the crisis people are experiencing.

Carry out dynamic and comprehensive assessments of needs with individual clients liaising with, representing and referring to other providers such as homeless casework teams, NHS practitioners, housing, statutory and voluntary services.

Assist with benefits applications and representation at appeals, ensuring clients have access to full benefit entitlement.

Enter into supportive and empowering relationships with clients with the aim of assisting them to tackle the often complex issues in their lives and access the support and services they need to help them at that moment in time and longer term.

Deliver practical support to users of the service (e.g. assisting people with emergency food parcels etc. where required.)

Perform general contact and assessment duties within the service in order to supervise the operation of the service identify needs and communicate with the wider team.

Provide a welcome and assessment of clients coming into the service ensuring health and safety is a priority.

Deliver outreach support to help clients access community-based resources in their own locality.

Attend relevant forums and events and develop sound relationships with other key providers as required.

Monitor and record in a consistent and professional fashion all work carried out on the client’s behalf.

Participate in the ongoing review of service delivery in order to optimize the service's use of resources in order to best meet individuals’ needs.

Carry out any other duties as required by the management of The Marie Trust.

This post is over 3 days, preferably Wednesday – Friday. 9-5pm.

comprehensive support to the organisation which will include administration, meetings, GDPR management and ensuring the smooth running of the office, whilst the departments embed a hybrid working model.

With demonstrable experience of working in a similar role, you will have pragmatic and highly organised approach. Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential, and you will need great IT skills, including MS Excel and Word. We are currently looking for an Information Officer to join our team. The disability advice and information service provides support to disabled people across Edinburgh and the Lothians on a range of subjects including welfare benefits, income maximisation, accessibility, housing, and a range of other topics of interest to disabled people.

You should enjoy working as part of a small team and have excellent communication skills in order to help our service users. Support includes one-to-one case-work and group-work/workshop delivery.

You should have previous experience of working within a similar environment and be a quick learner.

After initial training in the office environment, this post will be a mix of working from home and our offices in Edinburgh. The post also includes an element of outreach work across the Lothians, in community settings and home-visits to service users.
