The Active Travel Events Officer will plan and oversee the successful delivery of events promoting sustainable travel.

The post holder will directly support the Active Travel Team, and they will also engage with community groups and minority groups. The type of events will include, but are not limited to film nights, jumble sales, marketing stalls, led rides stopping for coffee and cake, speaker events, and family cycle sessions.

Responsible for the coordination and delivery of a week-long Build Your Own Bike course teaching community members how to build and maintain a bike, as well as volunteer bike refurbishment sessions, bike maintenance classes Fix Your Own Bike sessions.

Central to the role is the successful setup and ongoing coordination of community partners, staff, volunteers and participants. The position also involves supporting participants to engage in our wider Volunteering Programme.

The Practitioner will deliver a weekly programme of cycling and maintenance drop-in activities to our participants, including New Scots (asylum seekers, refugees, and migrants) and young people and encourage participants to move onto further volunteering and development opportunities where appropriate.

Experience in bike mechanics is essential for this role as well as non-judgmental attitude and ability to build rapport with people of all backgrounds.

This will include engaging new users and supporting them to sign up for Switch Up and Bikes for All memberships. You will also deliver cycle training and group cycling activities for adults who are keen to improve their physical and mental health through cycling. The Health and Wellbeing Practitioner will contribute towards the setup, running and on-going planning of Health and Wellbeing group engagement and 1:1 lessons including maintaining our fleet of bikes.

The Fundraiser Manager role is responsible for implementing fundraising and donationsstrategy to help us achieve the income we need to change people’s lives through cycling.

You are goal-oriented and successfully engage with and oversee fundraising and donation activities to achieve our Income generation strategic goals.

Bike for Good is seeking two experienced Cycle Trainers to join our award-winning team and help us change lives through cycling!

The Cycle Trainers will deliver a programme of school-based cycle training activities (Bikeability level 1-2 and an afterschool Bike Club) for children and young people. They will coordinate the programme directly with our partner schools and their Active Schools Coordinators to ensure it meets the needs of children and young people in the community. This work is part of a wider pilot project which the Cycle Trainers will be directly involved in.

Successful candidates will need a Cycle Trainer Qualification and at least one year of delivery experience, ideally achieved in a school-based setting. A patient teaching style is essential for this role as is a passion for supporting and encouraging children and young people to cycle. Experience of working with children and young people with additional support needs is also desirable. A flexible and ‘can-do’ attitude is key to this role.

The post holder will lead a new and exciting pilot project based at Civic Street; a strategic active travel intersection that links the city center and north Glasgow and connects residential communities in Woodside and Cowcaddens. Working in partnership with Agile City, the post holder will establish a community based cycling hub which will help us achieve our vision, mission and values. Working closely with surrounding communities, the Civic Street Cycling Hub will offer a programme of regular activities, services and events to encourage more people in the area to cycle as a mode of transport.
