The Active Travel Events Officer will plan and oversee the successful delivery of events promoting sustainable travel.

The post holder will directly support the Active Travel Team, and they will also engage with community groups and minority groups. Founded in 2010, Bike For Good sell and service refurbished bikes, run maintenance classes, provide cycle training, and deliver community projects; all with a view to change lives for the better through cycling. Cycling is becoming increasingly important to people and communities as a way of tackling the climate emergency and reducing pollution. We need to get more people cycling, especially those who live in disadvantaged communities and who are living on low incomes. Bikes for Good is about to expand significantly, launching its award winning programmes across the UK and launching new nationally accredited qualifications. There has never been a more exciting time for people who value cycling to join the Board.

Bike for Good is seeking two experienced Cycle Trainers to join our award-winning team and help us change lives through cycling!

The Cycle Trainers will deliver a programme of school-based cycle training activities (Bikeability level 1-2 and an afterschool Bike Club) for children and young people. They will coordinate the programme directly with our partner schools and their Active Schools Coordinators to ensure it meets the needs of children and young people in the community. This work is part of a wider pilot project which the Cycle Trainers will be directly involved in.

Successful candidates will need a Cycle Trainer Qualification and at least one year of delivery experience, ideally achieved in a school-based setting. A patient teaching style is essential for this role as is a passion for supporting and encouraging children and young people to cycle. Experience of working with children and young people with additional support needs is also desirable. A flexible and ‘can-do’ attitude is key to this role.

Bike for Good strongly believes that it is important to have a diverse workforce. We want to build an inclusive and representative community. Bike for Good is seeking an experienced Skills & Development Coordinator to join our award-winning team and help us change lives through cycling!

The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating and delivering a regular cycling activity programme to children & young people living in the Greater Govanhill area, that will aid Bike for Good to achieve our vision, mission and values. The Skills & Development Coordinator, will focus on improving the life chances of the service users by achieving the outcomes of:

  • Better physical, mental and emotional wellbeing for children and young people.
  • Better connections with the wider community for children and young people.

We are looking for someone who is inspired to make a difference to others and the local community. Candidates should be passionate about sharing their skills and teaching children and young people how to cycle and maintain their bikes.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of delivering youth or community activity programmes.
