What you’ll do

We are looking for a Support Officer to join our team to support Zero Tolerance’s work to promote gender equality and primary prevention of men’s violence in youth work, education and the early years.

You will support the development and delivery of the Zero Tolerance Under Pressure programme for youth workers. Alongside the Children and Young People: Policy and Practice Officer, you will monitor current trends and concerns for youth workers in the area of violence against women and girls (VAWG), identifying key areas to address through UP training.

The successful candidate will organise training sessions and develop materials to support training and other sessions with youth workers. You will Develop and maintain effective working relationships with freelance trainers and partner organisations and represent ZT at Children and Young People events as required

What we need

The successful candidate will have Experience of organising training or events and developing resources with knowledge and understanding of violence against women and gender equality. You’ll be a skilled communicator with the ability to create accessible and engaging resources and the ability to present complex ideas to a variety of audiences.

What you’ll do

We are looking for an experienced Policy Officer to join our team and lead on the development of robust, evidence-based policy responses to prevent violence against women and girls. You will support the organisation’s aims by building effective networks, monitoring and analysing public policy and researching and writing reports in line with campaign and policy priorities.

The successful candidate will often work in close collaboration with the women’s sector and other partners to influence key decision makers and stakeholders across local authorities, Scottish and UK governments and third sector organisations.

You will represent Zero Tolerance on advisory and working groups with stakeholders, acting as Chair/Co-chair as required and work with ZT colleagues to identify areas of influence and priority: incorporating the views and needs of marginalised women is essential in the role.

What we need

The successful candidate will have previous experience in a similar role, in a paid or voluntary capacity, with knowledge and understanding of violence against women and gender equality. You’ll be a skilled communicator with the ability to present complex ideas to a variety of audiences including senior politicians, stakeholders and partners.

What does a Zero Tolerance trustee do?

Trustees look after Zero Tolerance’s assets and make sure the charity fulfils its main aim, which is the prevention of violence against women in all its forms.

The role of the Treasurer

The Treasurer is the Chair of the finance sub-committee. Working closely with the Co-Directors and Operations Manager, they oversee the preparation of the management accounts for distribution to the Board before each Board meeting. The Treasurer guides and advises the Board of Trustees on all matters relating to the financial administration of the charity, the approval of budgets, independently audited annual accounts, and financial statements. With the other trustees, the Treasurer develops strategic plans that ensure that the charity is on a stable financial footing.

Our Trustees commit to attending quarterly online Board, sub-committee meetings, and up to two in-person training and development days annually.

What You’ll Do

We are looking for an Operations Manager to join us on a fixed term basis, to help support the team to adapt to post-pandemic work processes and practices. A varied and interesting role, you will lead on procurement for ZT as well as manage our office and home working systems. The Operations Manager will also support our Co-Directors with financial activity, including supervision of our finance role and producing management accounts and budgets. HR activity is an essential part of the role – as well as developing and implementing new HR policies, you will oversee recruitment processes to support vacancy fulfilment and create a strategy to help reduce and manage long-term vacancies.

What We Need

The successful candidate will have previous experience in a similar role with strong knowledge and understanding of office processes, procedures and operations. Ideally with experience of working in the voluntary sector, knowledge of managing financial processes will be essential. Understanding of HR/recruitment process and best practice is also required, as is the ability to organise and manage your own time and workload.

You will also have:

• Ability to support the rest of the ZT staff team to understand relevant operational matters, and in particular to develop their budgets

• Good written and verbal communication skills with ability to present information clearly to a range of audiences

Zero Tolerance works to end violence against women and girls (VAWG) in Scotland by changing attitudes and behaviour so that VAWG is not tolerated at any level of Scottish society and abusive men are held to account.

We are at an exciting place in our journeyand are seeking a new chair to lead the organisation. Zero Tolerance celebrates 30 years of campaigning in 2022 and we have recently launched a new 4-year strategy with the following priorities:

What You’ll Do

We are seeking to appoint a Finance Officer to provide a professional finance function and support us to operate as a sustainable charity and responsible employer. You will be responsible for the day to day management of Zero Tolerance’s financial systems and lead on development of organisational and project budgets, as well as provide quarterly management accounts and compile quarterly Board finance reports. The Finance Officer will also provide financial information to support funding bids and other regulatory requirements.

We are expanding our team to include the newly created position of Research and Engagement Support Officer. This is an exciting opportunity for a self-motivated individual to contribute to ZT’s primary prevention work, identifying best practice in participatory methods to support our work priorities and ensuring what we do reflects the lived experience of diverse groups of women and girls. The successful candidate will work closely with ZT colleagues to support all aspects of research and engagement, connecting with a wide range of stakeholders to identify new audience groups, disseminate research findings and developing innovative engagement methods. This is a new and developing role; flexibility, feedback and evaluation will be crucial to its success as is a willingness to adapt to the needs of a small charity.

What We Need

The successful candidate will have a good understanding of a variety of research methods including participatory research. You’ll have the ability to work flexibly and prioritise effectively to meet deadlines; a creative approach and excellent problem-solving skills are also essential, as is experience of supporting campaigns and organising events.

Zero Tolerance works to end violence against women and girls (VAWG) in Scotland by changing attitudes and behaviour so that VAWG is not tolerated at any level of Scottish society and abusive men are held to account.

We are at an exciting place in our journey. Zero Tolerance will celebrate 30 years of campaigning in 2022 and we are just about to launch a new 4-year strategy with the following priorities:

1. Strengthen understanding of emerging and neglected forms of VAWG to enable more inclusive and impactful prevention activity

2. Drive improvements in media reporting on VAWG

3. Embed gender equality and VAWG prevention in children and young people’s environments

We are looking for more and different voices to join our board and support our work. We want Zero Tolerance to be a place where feminist leadership happens at all levels and are committed to welcoming Board members from all background. Previous Board experience is not required as we will provide new trustees with full support, including a ‘buddy’ to help learn and develop as a Board member.

What You’ll Do

We are seeking to appoint a Finance and Admin Officer to provide a professional finance function and support us to operate as a sustainable charity and responsible employer. You will be responsible for the day to day management of Zero Tolerance’s financial systems and lead the procurement of services alongside supporting the Co-Directors and colleagues with administration. The Finance and Admin Officer will also lead on development of organisational and project budgets, as well as provide quarterly management accounts and compile quarterly Board finance reports.

What We Need

With excellent financial acumen, attention to detail and the ability to present financial information clearly to a range of audiences, the successful candidate will have a sound understanding of office practices and procedures. You’ll have practical bookkeeping experience and thorough knowledge and understanding of financial systems including use of financial software. You will also have:

· Understanding of budget and forecast management techniques

· Confidence in liaising on financial matters with external partners

· Ability to organise and manage own work to meet deadlines under pressure and work flexibly in response to changing priorities

· Excellent IT skills, with good working knowledge of MS Office and advanced user of Excel

Communications Officer

What You’ll Do

We are looking for a Communications Officer to join our team and lead on our work to raise public and political awareness of men’s violence against women, and how to prevent it. You will support the organisation’s aims by developing and delivering impactful communication strategies, increasing Zero Tolerance’s profile through both traditional and new media engagement.

What We Need

An excellent communicator with a self-motivated and enthusiastic approach, the successful candidate will have previous experience in a similar role ideally with a sound understanding of violence against women and gender equality. You’ll be a skilled project manager with the ability to work flexibly, often to tight timescales; the willingness to adapt to the needs of a small charity is also essential. You will also have:

  • A strong understanding and experience of working with the media
  • Demonstrable experience of developing, delivering, and evaluating projects
  • Knowledge and experience of developing and delivering social media campaigns via multiple platforms
  • Experience of producing publications for print and online
