  • Based in Newington, Edinburgh
  • Closing 15th November 2021

Looking for a manager to join an existing care team who work with a 63-year old man with advanced and complex Parkinson’s. The care takes place at his home, not at a care facility. Currently the team consists of live-in carers, night-time carers and relief care to cover breaks, working together to provide 24 hour, 7-days a week continuous care.

The day-to-day management of care is currently done by the family, however due to other commitments we are now hoping to find someone professional to step in and take over the management. In this role you will:

  • Liaise with the current care team
  • Liaise with care companies who provide some of the care (mainly relief care)
  • Liaise with healthcare providers, pharmacies
  • Schedule and manage weekly staffing rotas

  • Valid PVG/Disclosure Scotland certificate
  • Self-employed (this is not a PAYE role)

Desirable aspects:

  • Drivers license preferred, no car needed

You must be flexible with timings. Due to the nature of the role, managing and/or providing emergency cover will be a key part of the job. This is not something which happens on a regular basis, however team members can call in sick at very short notice. This is reflected in the pay, due to the on-call nature of the role. However, the better you are at managing the team and care companies, the less emergency cover will need to be provided directly by yourself.

This role will be self-employed, paid at the end of each month. You will not be responsible for paying the care team or care companies - the family will still manage all the finances.

I am a lively middle-aged woman who has difficulties with balance and vision. I require a female PA to support me with gardening, light housework (e.g. cooking, laundry) with aerobic exercise, and potentially with some other ad hoc duties.

I have a smallish garden & greenhouse in which I grow an array of vegetables & need someone to assist. No experience necessary…. Just a love of the outdoors & the garden.

My difficulties are largely falling because of poor balance, low energy & poor vision, so I need someone to accompany me to make sure I don’t fall.

10 hours per week – flexible hours over two days.

Personal Assistant / Enabler

  • Part time
  • Sessional
  • near Bathgate, West Lothian EH47
  • Closing 19th September 2021

Hi there,

Are you a people person....

..... reliable.....

.... with a good sense of fun....

.... with sound common sense....

.... a non-smoker.....

... able to care for someone with physical and learning disabilities needing total care....

And can you drive?

... then look no further!

I am a sociable guy who likes to be with people

AND I have a great job waiting for you as part of my team!

I have cerebral palsy which affects my speech and my ability to do anything. That and my epilepsy mean that I am unable, however much I try, to do anything for myself; in fact I need help with everything including intimate personal care.

But this doesn’t stop me from pursuing my interests which are gardening, Christian activities, working with animals, swimming, drama, music, arts and crafts and horse riding (for which you need to be 5’8”).

In fact I am quite busy at home and in the community. At home I also need you to help with my exercises to keep me able to move.

Would you like to have fun working with me? Giving care and support to one individual you get to know them well. You are able to enjoy activities in the home and community while being paid! Learn to be an enabler!

The bonus is you get training on the job and later get to go to further training!

If you would like to work with me for about 16 hours or for a full 30+ hours per week; possibly be available for sleepovers - I would pay you £10.20ph initially and provide a pension. The hourly rate goes up to £12.10ph when you are able to do all of my care reliably.

Sleepovers are paid at £83.70 per night.

When you are a permanent team member I include enhanced sick pay.

You would also get 42 days paid holiday per year.
