Looking for a manager to join an existing care team who work with a 63-year old man with advanced and complex Parkinson’s. The care takes place at his home, not at a care facility. Currently the team consists of live-in carers, night-time carers and relief care to cover breaks, working together to provide 24 hour, 7-days a week continuous care.

The day-to-day management of care is currently done by the family, however due to other commitments we are now hoping to find someone professional to step in and take over the management. In this role you will:

• Liaise with the current care team
• Liaise with care companies who provide some of the care (mainly relief care)

• Schedule and manage weekly staffing rotas
• In case of illness or emergency, provide cover for the care team OR source emergency care from a care company

I have cerebral palsy which affects my speech and my ability to do anything. That and my epilepsy mean that I am unable, however much I try, to do anything for myself; in fact I need help with everything including intimate personal care.

But this doesn’t stop me from pursuing my interests which are gardening, Christian activities, working with animals, swimming, drama, music, arts and crafts and horse riding (for which you need to be 5’8”).

In fact I am quite busy at home and in the community. At home I also need you to help with my exercises to keep me able to move.

Would you like to have fun working with me? Giving care and support to one individual you get to know them well. You are able to enjoy activities in the home and community while being paid! Learn to be an enabler!

The bonus is you get training on the job and later get to go to further training!

If you would like to work with me for about 16 hours or for a full 30+ hours per week; possibly be available for sleepovers - I would pay you £10.20ph initially and provide a pension. The hourly rate goes up to £12.10ph when you are able to do all of my care reliably.

Sleepovers are paid at £83.70 per night.

When you are a permanent team member I include enhanced sick pay.

You would also get 42 days paid holiday per year.

Summary

As a Personal Assistant (PA), your role is to support the employer, a disabled man and powerchair-user in his late 20s, to pursue his ambitions and live as independently as possible. You will support the employer with social, work-related and domestic activities in a variety of settings.

Key Responsibilities

· Assist the employer with a range of activities, including meeting friends/attending social events, going for a walk, to the cinema, accessing employment, managing administrative tasks (and enable him to pursue his other interests, desires and goals in general).

· Assist the employer out and about, including driving the employer’s adapted van.

· Assist the employer with tidying, laundry, shopping and other household tasks.

· Assist the employer with eating, drinking and preparing food.

· Assist the employer with dressing and personal care, including use of a ceiling hoist for transfers.

Skills & Personal Qualities

· Previous experience supporting a disabled person is desirable, but not essential.

Day Shift: 13 hours. 8am-9pm. Breaks flexible.

Night Shift: 12 hours. 9pm-9am. Waking night.

Needed: Three Full Time Carers

Carer 1: 1 day shift and 2 night shifts (37 hours a week)

I am looking for caring individuals male or female with relevant experience to work as a personal assistant/carer with my 21 year old son.

What you will be doing

Our family require a fun and dynamic female to support us over the weekend initially to help fulfil family activities and daily tasks over the weekend. The family consists of 3-year-old twins and their 8-year sister; one of the twins has additional support needs and we are looking for assistance to ensure our children can play and enjoy time together at ease.

We are looking for someone organised, warm, patient and nurturing; a creative individual who will use their own initiative to help care for children who love arts and crafts and generally having fun. They are well adjusted, bright and kind children who get on well. A candidate with good energy and a cheerful disposition will suit best.

What we are looking for

• You will be a qualified carer/nanny, or highly experienced, and have a passion for childcare. The family are particularly looking for candidates who have experience working with children who have additional support needs, as well as being flexible, organised and enjoy being outdoors.
• You must be a non-smoker and a driver with your own car and a full clean UK driving licence.
• You will also have up to date first aid training.

Candidate responsibilities

• Stimulating development, keeping the children engaged.
• Be willing to get specialist training to look after a child with special needs – in particular tracheostomy and gastrostomy care.
• Helping with light household tasks such as cooking and cleaning.
• General family assistance; be a support system for the children and the family.

Nature of the job role:To assist with a variety of tasks which will support the employer to live an independent personal and social life. Providing overnight support in employer’s own home. Job role may include travel and overnight supports based away from East Renfrewshire and potentially abroad.

Duties:Personal duties: Support with personal care including showering and toileting. Ensuring that the employer is well dressed and maintains his well kept appearance

Domestic duties:Assisting and supporting employer with daily household tasks as required.

Social Duties:Support the employer with his volunteering and sports coaching roles and to compete in his disability sport interests.

Any other reasonable duties that may be necessary. These duties may vary from day to day.

Hours of work:The post is 30 hours a week and will include day and evening shifts Monday – Sunday. There is a need for you to be flexible as the working patterns are subject to change to meet the needs of the client.
