WorkingRite seeks to stop the cycle of deprivation and poverty that occur in so many communities across Scotland. We do this through our award-winning, youth employability programme, which sees practical work skills coupled with personal development, strengthened through a mentored work placement with a small, local business of the young person’s choice.

Our flexible, person-centred programmes of training, support and work placements put the young people at the heart of their future, helping those 15 – 24 years old who are furthest from the job market, to gain confidence, real skills and a foothold on the employability ladder. We have been operating as a charity since 2011 and in that time have supported over 3,500 young people into a positive destination. We currently operate programmes in Edinburgh, Glasgow, Argyll & Bute, Aberdeen and East Ayrshire.

WorkingRite have recently secured significant investment that will see us grow our work across the country. We have also recently appointed a new CEO who has a vision to see us increase our work in the 5 local authorities we already work in and expand into new areas of Scotland where the needs of young people are greatest.

This exciting role will support young people from different secondary schools across Edinburgh to prepare for employment when they leave school. By delivering WorkingRite’s in-school model, Rite to Work, this post will work with small groups of young people in their last year at school to gain the confidence and skills they need to progress into jobs, apprenticeships or further vocational learning – or gain further support with WorkingRite’s post-16 work experience programme in local businesses.

We require a Rite to Work Project Co-ordinator who can:

• Self-start and work on own initiative
• Work as part of a high functioning team
• Engage and motivate young people in groups and 1:1
• Build strong relationships with schools, parents and businesses
• Work to targets
• Offer new and creative ideas
• Deliver accredited and certificated learning opportunities
• Support young people with challenges and barriers to progression

You will be confident, have excellent communication skills and be well organised. Above all, you must be enthusiastic and want to support young people.

Operations Officers support the operational delivery and development of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award (DofE) through managing a portfolio of Licensed Organisations (LOs).

LOs range from local authorities, state and independent schools to youth organisations, secure units and community groups. The DofE Scotland Operations team works with these licensed organisations to build their capacity, support their reach into more marginalised communities and ensure quality and compliance with the Award framework.

The DofE Scotland office covers DofE activity across the length and breadth of Scotland, working with over 150 Licensed Organisations and over 20,000 young people in the last year alone. Each Operations Officer manages a portfolio based on broad geographic region.

The role will be field-based and when not attending meetings, employees will work from home. You will need to have an appropriate home office set up and live within the region.

Edinburgh Young Carers is seeking a suitably experienced and qualified applicant to co-ordinate our awareness-raising, training and support to schools and Higher Education (HE)/Further Education (FE) establishments across Edinburgh, with the aim to develop whole-school, sustainable approaches in the identification of, and support to, young carers.

The post-holder will promote, manage and develop ‘We Care: Schools for Young Carers’ award to schools across Edinburgh, and nationwide (funding dependent), and will work in partnership with Capital Carers and Space to ensure consistent delivery of schools and HE/FE work across the four localities of the City.

The candidate will need to be experienced in working with children and young people in formal or informal education settings, with experience of project set-up, management and reporting and in developing and delivering presentations and running training events/workshops for young people and professionals.

We are looking for an enthusiastic Project Officer to join Fast Forward’s Scottish Gambling Education Hub. This role will have a focus on youth groups and other informal education settings.

The Hub was Scotland’s first gambling education and prevention programme focusing on protecting young people from gambling harms. Its work includes delivering training to practitioners, staff, schools and youth groups, developing resources, as well as partnership building with national organisations.

Fast Forward is Scotland’s national youth work agency, focusing on supporting children & young people to make informed choices regarding, and take a harm reduction approach to, risk-taking behaviours, towards reducing the negative impacts of these on their lives and those of their families and wider community. We promote health through programmes and resources developed by, with and for young people.
