Member of our Board of Trustees
SupportED is Scotland’s leading and fastest-growing community eating disorder charity, providing peer support through
Support Groups and one-to-one Befriending for individuals with eating disorders, as well as for parents, carers,
and families. Our services are volunteer-led, with most of our volunteers having lived experience of eating
disorder recovery.
The demand for our services is increasing rapidly. With public services stretched, we provide a vital source of
support. Our Support Groups operate both in person and online, ensuring that help remains accessible to those
who need it most.
As we focus on expanding our services across Scotland, we are now seeking new Trustees to join our Board.
Why Join Us?
By becoming a Trustee, you will play a key role in shaping the future of SupportED, helping us to grow and therefore
to reach and support more people on their recovery journey.
We have a strong, committed and experienced Board of eight Trustees that works closely as a team, so we’re looking
for new members who are collaborative, hands-on, and willing to contribute both strategically and, occasionally,
operationally.
The Board meets six times a year, two of which are face to face in Glasgow or Stirling (half or full day), with 4 of
our meetings being online (weekday evenings, duration two hours).
Given our current growth phase, Trustees should expect to commit, on average, at approximately 3-5 hours per month,
occasionally more. Trustee terms are for three years, potentially renewable twice (ie nine years max).
To learn more about the legal responsibilities of trustees, you can refer to OSCR’s Guidance and Good Practice for
Charity Trustees.
Join us as a Trustee
SupportED is seeking committed individuals to join our Board of Trustees and help guide our charity as we continue to
grow and make an impact. As a Trustee, you will play a vital role in the leadership and governance of our
organisation, ensuring we remain true to our mission and values.
We believe anyone can be a Trustee. We welcome applications from people of all ages and with diverse backgrounds and
levels of experience — whether you have led a charity, held an executive position, or have skills gained from
working in business, non-profits, the public sector or as a student. Your perspectives and expertise will help
shape the future of our work.
Inquiries / applications from those with digital / IT / social media skills and experience would be especially
welcome.
