CVS Falkirk & District is pleased to announce a new vacancy within our team: Community Participation and Engagement Manager. Funded directly by Scottish Government, the Community Participation and Engagement Manager, is a newly created role to shape, and contribute to, an important and innovative programme of work Greener Grangemouth: a 10-year programme as part of the Grangemouth and Falkirk Growth Deal (2024-2034) putting community health and wellbeing at the heart of Grangemouth’s Just Transition Programme.

We are looking for a person who understands the community landscape of Grangemouth, the priorities and challenges faced by the people who live and work in the town and is interested in supporting the transition to net zero through the decarbonisation of industry and community justice.

With strong communication skills, and exceptional at managing relationships, the postholder will engage with a wide network of stakeholders including representatives from the third sector and local communities, industry, business, public sector, and academic sector to create a visible and consistent ‘on the ground’ presence in Grangemouth, focusing on developing relationships with people across the breadth of the community, ensuring those seldom heard have a route to participation, and supporting collaboration across networks.

There is no fixed route map for how to do this and it is a significant challenge. Whilst enhancing community capacity to take part in the Just Transition process in Grangemouth, the Community Participation and Engagement Manager will be fundamental to establishing a new approach to multi-partner participatory democracy.

Job Summary

The role of Programme Lead (Training and Reconciliation) is a key new position in supporting Place for Hope’s strategic goal of growing our partnerships with faith communities to support and equip more people to reach their potential as peacemakers.

The Programme Lead will co-ordinate all work related to our new 5-year partnership with the United Reformed Church (URC). The partnership will involve two key areas (i) the development and staged roll-out of a mediation team within the URC who will work ecumenically with the wider Place for Hope Practitioner team; and (ii) embedding the understanding, skills, and confidence in how to deal well with conflict, change and difference through a set programme of trainings.

The Programme Lead will draw on the entire Place for Hope team (staff and volunteers) to develop and deliver an agreed 5-year programme plan. The role will also involve supporting the wider work of Place for Hope, particularly working with our training team to deliver our training programme (online and in-person) with a wide range of partners.

Previous experience of project management, training, as well as excellent organisational and communication skills are essential to the role. The ideal candidate would also have an interest in supporting faith communities to transform conflict and a willingness to undertake CPD provided by Place for Hope to build their knowledge and skills in this area. This is an exciting time to join Place for Hope and play a pivotal role in equipping individuals and faith communities to choose peace in times of fear and division.

The Locality Partner/Locality Development Officer (LDO) works across our communities and is assigned a locality of Dumfries and Galloway to develop relationships and representation.

The purpose is to build a strong third sector through collaboration and advice on a range of matters including leadership, good governance, sustainability, planning and volunteering.

Each Partner/LDO hosts the Locality Hub for their area as part of the Community Planning Partnership, working with partners in the local authority, NHS and others. As part of the Partnerships and Communities team, there is also wider involvement in sector development, including sharing insights and learning from localities to help with decision making.

This is an exciting opportunity to join our Regional Family Support Team in the East of Scotland and work to ensure the delivery of high-quality support to people who have a family member in prison.

We are looking for a Regional Family Support Coordinator to join our team in the East of Scotland. In this position you will play a crucial role in supporting families affected by imprisonment who live in Edinburgh, Lothians and Scottish Borders and pro-actively engaging with external partners through different means to deliver Families Outside’s key messages to ensure everyone is recognising the needs of families affected by imprisonment.

The Regional Family Support Coordinator will be responsible for supporting families, including children and young people at home and in their community via 1:1 work, to address the social and family adversities that people who have a family member in prison face, so they feel engaged, supported, and empowered. Whilst supporting children to ensure they are safe, healthy, included, and achieving at home, school, and in the community.

Primary responsibilities will include:

• Engaging with prison staff, attending meetings and family events at HMP Edinburgh.
• Providing support to families affected by imprisonment who live in Edinburgh, Lothians, and Scottish Borders.
• Engaging with Community Planning Partnerships (CPPs) in relevant surrounding areas including Edinburgh, Lothians, and Scottish Borders.
• Creating links with other organisations working in those areas outlined above.
• Collaborative working with Barnardo’s, at HMP Edinburgh Prison Visitors’ Centre.

With experience of supporting and working alongside families, including children and young people the Regional Family Support Coordinator will be able to demonstrate that they are passionate about developing and delivering a quality service that is focused on the rights of families affected by imprisonment in their work and all they do.
