  • Reports to: Depute Chief Executive. Department: Senior Management Team. Salary range: circa £45k, negotiable depending on experience. Hours: 35 hours per week.

Role

The Head of Services will work as part of the Senior Management Team for Cosgrove Care with a key focus on the design, delivery, and development of high quality services which are fully compliant with regulatory bodies and meet and exceed expected standards. The Head of Services will lead key members of operational staff to deliver against the strategy, ensuring efficient, effective and person centred supports are provided. The post holder will work with the Corporate Management Team (CMT) to develop and implement a clear strategic direction for Cosgrove which includes developing new service models, securing outcomes focused provision and supporting the diversification of income. The development of innovative approaches to practice is key to this role. So too is engaging and developing a high performing operational team.

Essential skills and experience

  • Educated in a relevant discipline with extensive experience at a managerial level within the Third and/or Public Sector.
  • Extensive knowledge of current legislation and policy in Scotland as it relates to child and adult social care.
  • Experience of working at a senior level and designing and implementing strategy with a track record of success
  • Clear understanding of the Scottish regulatory environment and delivering high performing services which meet and exceed standards.
  • Knowledge and understanding of implementing quality management systems and driving up organisational standards
  • Extensive knowledge of supervision and management of a diverse staff team.
  • Experience of appraisal and staff development.
  • Experience of service evaluation and review.
  • Experience of developing and managing budgets and of designing reporting mechanisms for both financial and operational activity.
  • Knowledge of the principles of person centred support and a strong commitment to the UNCRC
  • Excellent self-organising and time management skills, with the ability to work under pressure, juggle tasks and prioritise workloads and meet deadlines with the minimum of supervision.
  • Evidence of a positive and flexible attitude towards getting things done by creating opportunities or minimising potential problems by anticipating and preparing for these in advance.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with evidence of developing and maintaining positive working relationships with staff, Board members and external stakeholders at all levels, through being reliable, punctual and maintaining a pleasant work attitude.
  • Articulate with experience of report writing, presentation and media work.
  • Meticulous attention to detail, excellent problem solving and forward planning skills.
  • Ability to maintain the highest levels of confidentiality.
  • Ability to work flexibly and independently, and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to support and help colleagues as and when required at all times.

  • Car driver with access to a car for business purposes.

Desirable

  • Confident in using digital tools to communicate with stakeholders and willing to learn new digital skills relevant to the role.
  • Confident in using Customer Relationship Management databases and have a good overall understanding of computer systems.
