The Health Agency is looking to appoint a Physical Activity Co-ordinator to co-ordinate Active Steps. The Health Agency is a voluntary sector organisation; our continuing aim is to address health inequalities in South West Edinburgh. Active Steps works in partnership to promote and increase the physical activity levels of local people and encourages the use of physical activity in promoting a healthier lifestyle.
The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating and developing the Active Steps – Physical Activity Pathway and action plan with the physical activity coordinator at Health All Round. The purpose of the job is to work in partnership across SW Edinburgh managing, promoting and delivering physical activity programmes / initiatives to increase physical activity levels of sedentary / high risk groups. There is also an element of promoting health through diet and nutrition.
Candidates should be educated to degree level in a relevant field such as health promotion, sports science or in sports / physical activity development and have experience working in community development, health, physical activity, group work delivery and partnership working.
Knowledge of Health Improvement issues in relation to physical activity and knowledge of social inclusion would be beneficial to undertake this role which is working mainly in areas of multiple deprivation.
