If so, Nesta is looking for a Senior Policy Advisor (Scotland) to design, lead and deliver creative policy projects as part of our work in Scotland to support digital, data and technology driven innovation for social good.

Nesta in Scotland’s work helps governments at a national and local level to understand future trends, make use of quality new research insights, test ideas and scale up or replicate proven policy interventions. We have particularly focused on the value of people-powered public services, smarter use of data and technology and better use of new financial instruments to make change happen.
About this exciting opportunity
As Senior Policy Advisor (Scotland), you will help us work with partners both inside and outside Nesta to craft, test and campaign for ambitious, creative policy proposals that will help communities across Scotland to thrive in the 21st century. You will also focus on maximising the impact of Nesta in Scotland’s work by managing a portfolio of policy and research projects that develop our reputation as an influential voice on government innovation and innovation policy in Scotland. You will also be expected to:
· Manage the commissioning process of policy provocations and research projects from experts in the field
· Undertake specific policy projects related to the Scotland team’s influencing campaigns
· Lead on the design and organisation of events aimed at policy, political or industry audiences
· Compose targeted and regular communications activities to promote our policy ideas
· Keep up to speed with the latest government policy developments in Scotland.
What we are looking for
You will be a skilled communicator with an excellent grasp of Scottish social policy issues relevant to government and community innovation and a strong understanding of how to influence public policy and decision-makers in Scotland. You will also be a thought leader in your own right, ready to generate new ideas but also with a passion for ideas grounded in experimentation and what works on the ground.
The capability to engage with technical detail of policy and legislation as well as to propose creative and more provocative ideas that can stimulate debate is vital, as is the ability to distil research and complex ideas into briefs, articles, and policy recommendations for both expert and general audiences
