Project Officer (Food Justice)

Nourish Scotland works to create a fair, healthy and sustainable food system that truly values nature and people. We campaign for the necessary changes to law and practice, and advocate for a rights-based approaches to make this a reality. We work in partnership with others, and learn from the perspectives of those with lived experience of food system problems.

We are looking for an experienced project officer to take forward our work on the food insecurity and right to food agenda.

The successful candidate will work with colleagues across a number of initiatives in the area including the Dignity Project, the Good Food Nation campaign and other projects. The work will include:

  • Developing resources, reports and workshop plans aimed at different audiences. This will include producing tools to support practice change in the community food sector (food banks, community larders, community kitchens etc); writing reports to funders; and preparing for diverse participant groups.
  • Facilitating groups and delivering workshops centred on the issues of food insecurity, right to food and food justice, with the degree of sensitivity and empathy that these topics require.
  • Building good working relationships with partners in the sector including emergency food providers, those with lived experience of poverty and other NGOs.
