For the past 40 years Port of Leith HA has been actively providing high quality affordable housing and promoting the ongoing regeneration of Leith and neighbouring communities in North Edinburgh. Our ambition is “to make Leith the best place to be”. We have an exciting new build programme of approximately 850 units over the next 5 years, including a Passivhaus development and 400 new homes at Granton Harbour.

We are seeking to appoint an experienced, enthusiastic Welfare Rights Officer to join our tenancy support team, based in our office in Leith. You will provide an excellent service to our tenants and to people in the wider community in Leith to ensure that income is maximised. You will have excellent interpersonal, communication and organisational skills and be able to work with minimum supervision.

The main purpose of the role is to:

· Carry out benefits check

· Advise on entitlements

· Assist with benefit applications

· Liaise with DWP, CEC and other agencies

· Prepare for and represent customers at benefit appeals and tribunals

You will have a thorough and current knowledge of welfare benefits with at least 2 years’ relevant experience working in this field, along with a good general level of education.
