Role

Glasgow Night Shelter is looking for a dynamic SERVICE TRANSFORMATION LEAD who is excited by the idea of a big challenge!

We’ve been running an emergency shelter for asylum seekers 365 nights a year, since 2011. The staff and volunteers are skilled and dedicated and we’ve been successfully funded to pilot new types of emergency accommodation. This is where you come in! We need you to get us from where we are now to where we need to be. Can you help us transform our service and project manage a move?

  • You’ll be up for and experienced in leading an operational team through change – and you’ll be comfortable with change yourself
  • You’ll have experience in a social care setting – perhaps managing a registered service
  • You’ll have experience of line management and building the capacity and confidence of your team – and you’ll be great at knowing if recruitment is required to make a service really shine
  • You’ll be hands on in just getting stuff done, as well as an inspirational leader and motivator
  • You’ll have really strong project planning and budgeting skills – we need you to lead, plan and deliver a big move from one venue to a new home for the service
  • You’ll be knowledgeable about policies and procedures that will need to be developed and implemented to transform the service
  • You’ll know how to identify training needs and implement a plan that ensures everyone in the team is ready to deliver an excellent service
  • You’ll be committed to a values-based approach to service design and delivery, ideally in the field of homelessness

We need someone who can commit to an initial full time nine month fixed term post or secondment with us, planning and delivering the transformation of the service and project managing the service. You’ll be at the forefront of a multi-agency project spanning local and national government, homelessness services in Glasgow and the expert asylum and refugee sector – this hasn’t been done before, so it’s hard to overestimate what an incredible opportunity this is for the right person.

You’ll receive support and supervision from the Project Director and you’ll work with them to plan for the sustainability of the service beyond Year 1.

For an informal conversation about the role please email glasgownightshelterjobs@gmail.com to arrange a chat with the Project Director.
