Museums Galleries Scotland (MGS) is the National Development Body for the Scottish museums sector. We are looking for an experienced professional to join our Museum Development team as coordinator for Forum Connections: Building Capacity for Scotland’s Museums Forums, an exciting new project run by MGS and funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund (NLHF).

MGS supports more than 400 museums and galleries, through strategic investment, advice, advocacy, and skills development. Collaboration, integrity, courageousness and a passion for museums shape our approach.

This role provides a great opportunity to work with geographic forums to increase capacity and partnership working in a way that is sustainable over the medium- and longer-term, leading to more resilient museums across Scotland. You will lead on the development of skills, confidence, and capacity within Scotland’s museum forums through engagement with individual groups and a programme of bespoke workshops and training; and also help to grow skills across the MGS team in key areas. Regional travel will be required.

With strong influencing and relationship-building skills and experience of project development, you will have a proven track record of group facilitation and of development/ delivery of training and workshops. Excellent communication skills are essential, as well as a demonstrable interest in museums/heritage. Experience of working with local networks and a range of stakeholders; business planning skills; and a professional understanding of the museums/heritage/culture sector in Scotland would be an advantage.
