We have a vision that every child and young person in the country has a safe and happy childhood and the foundations they need to thrive.

Action for Children protects and supports vulnerable children and young people by providing practical and emotional care and support, ensuring their voices are heard and campaigning to bring lasting improvements to their lives. With 476 services in communities across the UK, the charity helps more than 387,000 children, teenagers, parents and carers a year.

The role

Action for Children is looking for a Bid Manager who will provide overall professional management, bid writing, co-ordination and direct production of bids/proposals for strategic, high value, complex bids as well as for smaller bids. Applying a detailed understanding of the needs of Children's Services and their commissioners, into customer centric differentiated win strategies, to achieve annually set income targets.

What will you need?

The successful applicant will have significant experience of successful bid management and bid production - from identification through to bid writing and submission with a track record in retaining and winning business through successful tendering. You will be able to demonstrate strong communication skills – both written and verbal, in particular to articulate and translate complex strategies, ideas and models into compelling, well-evidenced written propositions. And while previous experience in a charity organisation would be advantageous, someone with a good mix of public and private sector experience would also make an ideal candidate. You will have good people skills and be able to build excellent engagement relationships across the charity as well as developing and maintaining effective networks, relationships, partnerships and alliances both internal and external to support business opportunities. The successful applicant will also be responsible for producing business cases and recommendations to inform the development of new products and services, and bid decision-making

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, and excellent attention to detail
  • Proven ability to plan, prioritise and manage a large and complex workload
