The Edinburgh International Book Festival is one of the world’s largest public celebrations of the written word, providing a lively forum for democratic discussion and the exchange of ideas. For 17 days every August, it brings writers, poets, politicians, journalists, thinkers and decision makers from around the world to Edinburgh to discuss and share stories about the things that shape our lives. 900 authors from over 60 countries appear in an eclectic and wide-ranging international programme of over 800 events, activities and workshops.

The Book Festival also produces the Baillie Gifford Children’s and School’s Programmes comprising hundreds of events created especially for young people, and a year-round community programme takes the Book Festival on the road around Scotland to people in their own communities.

During August the Edinburgh International Book Festival runs its own independent bookshops, which champion Scottish books and writing alongside the best international work, selling over 70,000 books each year. Around 240,000 visits are made to the Book Festival’s home every year, a specially created tented village in the leafy green space of Charlotte Square Gardens and along the west end of George Street, in the heart of historic Edinburgh – the world’s first UNSESCO City of Literature. The 2020 Book Festival runs from 15-31 August. / @edbookfest

The Sponsorship and Partnerships Manager will be responsible for the implementation and ongoing development of a corporate fundraising strategy.

They will be responsible for the management of a portfolio of key major sponsors. Many of our sponsorships support the Book Festival in the enhancement and development of its site, programme and marketing activity, and thus present strategic opportunities for the organisation. The postholder will therefore be expected to work closely and collaboratively with colleagues across the team to ensure that all partnerships effectively meet the needs of both the sponsor and the Book Festival.

The role presents an excellent opportunity for an ambitious individual to make a significant impact on the work of the Book Festival and help take our fundraising ability to a new level. This is an exciting time to join the team, and the postholder will be expected to make a significant difference to its continued success, by supporting the prospecting and acquisition of new sponsors and excellent stewardship of existing ones.
