In order to protect nature we need to take on the big issues facing our planet. We're facing up to challenges such as the urgent threat of climate change. 2020 marks a significant milestone for UN processes including biodiversity and climate as well as being the 75th birthday of the UN itself. The 2020 climate summit (COP26) which takes place in Glasgow is seen as the deadline for countries to commit to delivering on the Paris Agreement. The Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) will be meeting in autumn 2020 to agree a new framework up until 2030 and Scotland will host an intersessional event in spring 2020 in Edinburgh as part of the build-up. There is a real opportunity for Scotland to play a role on the global stage!
Both COP and the CBD offer WWF the opportunity to leverage significant wins on climate and nature in Scotland and as COP26 Co-ordinator (Scotland), you will have a unique opportunity to help shape and deliver key aspects of our work programme in 2020. Planning and co-ordinating activities in the lead up to COP, alongside a counterpart at WWF-UK, you will work with external stakeholders supporting WWF Scotland’s involvement to ensure WWF’s voice is heard.
A passionate supporter of environmental and conservation issues and with a good understanding of Scottish politics, you will have experience of leading complex, multi stakeholder projects and matrix working.
Organised, with exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, you will be capable of working collaboratively and in partnership, and comfortable liaising with ministers, government officials, other NGOs and businesses.
Most importantly, you will have clarity of focus and be able to see the bigger picture and make the links between your work and wider WWF objectives.

At WWF-UK we are committed to creating an inclusive working environment, where diversity is valued and there is equality of opportunity. We therefore welcome applications from all sections of the community and we offer a range of benefits to encourage a work life balance.
Our world needs you like never before. We are the first generation to know we are destroying the world and we could be the last that can do anything about it. We’re looking for people who are passionate about making it politically, socially and economically unacceptable to destroy our planet’s natural resources. We need you to join us in the fight for our world.
