Fancy pioneering our new homelessness prevention service delivering art projects to communities across Scotland?

Bethany are launching Creative Expressions in January 2020. The service will give the people that we support the means to express themselves and find their own voice by making the creative arts accessible. The range of media will include photography, spoken and written word, poetry, drama, art, film, choirs and music.

The principal role of the Coordinator will be to investigate the needs in communities across Scotland, including the thousands of people we currently support, and assess where short-term projects can be delivered with the potential to lengthen these based on the benefit to the community. Access routes in to projects will initially be through existing Bethany services and partners but open to further external referrals as projects develop.

It is estimated that in addition to the enhancement of existing groups, 3 other creative projects could be developed and delivered each year. These activities would be delivered by arts practitioners organised by the Coordinator and could include wall murals, exhibitions and musical performances.

Candidates will require significant experience and a demonstrable passion for working with people from a range of backgrounds including vulnerable individuals on the margins of society. They must also have a personal interest and engagement in the creative arts that motivates their desire to see lives transformed by participating in these activities.

As Bethany is a Christian organisation this post carries an Occupational Requirement in line with Equality Act 2010. Applicants should have and be able to evidence an active Christian faith and commitment. Successful applicants for this post will require an enhanced disclosure and membership of the PVG scheme.
