Turning Point Scotland’s HR team supports all of our social care services across Scotland and is based in Govan, Glasgow. The innovative thinking, dynamic and values driven inclusive approach of our organisation is mirrored within our HR department, which comprises of ten people.
Two smaller teams operate within the department providing HR advice, support and planning to an allocated group of services. This role will be a key part of our South Team working closely with managers and colleagues at all levels across the organisation operating within a unionised environment, with a geographical spread covering, Glasgow, Ayrshire, Inverclyde, Dumfries & Galloway.
Beyond day to day support and employee relations issues, we undertake a full range of tasks and work including organisational development, workforce development planning, recruitment and strategic projects.
· To provide generalist human resources advice, guidance and support to Turning Point Scotland’s line managers
· To provide a business partnership approach in working with managers, services and regions to enable the services and organisation to meet their aims and objectives.
· Interpreting and implementing HR policies, best practice and appropriately applying employment law
· Providing guidance and information to staff
· Undertaking a leadership role in projects or an area of HR operations or business specialism
· Working on employee relations issues, reports and cases (absence, disciplinary, investigations, grievances/complaints; TUPE; consultation meetings) balancing risk and the law with a pragmatic approach and reporting as required
· To undertake duties relating to leavers, payroll, contract alterations, absence, fitness for work, reasonable adjustments, flexible working requests and paternity/maternity
· Focussed progression of recruitment processing for new starts
· To advise and authorise on changes to terms and conditions and work to an anti-discriminatory framework
· Working in a small team to achieve a high quality responsive service for a group of services and to work as part of the larger HR team
· To meet strategic and personal development goals as agreed with your line and departmental manager with organisational development changes, taking on lead for topics/areas and projects
· To ensure our approach to employee registration with SSSC and PVG issues is dealt with in a consistent, compliant and legal manner
· To deliver a strategic business partnering service to support increased retention and recruitment across the team’s services through agreed plans and projects
· Quality assure and oversee some aspects of recruitment (Safer Recruitment) using our on-line recruitment tool
· To promote workforce development practices such as induction, appraisal, supervision
· To work with absence systems to actively manager and address absence get employees back to work as soon as possible and to put into place attendance plans to avoid absence in higher risk groups including working with our occupational health service
· Ensuring internal records of grievance, discipline and absence logs are up to date for reporting
· Working with the union and union representatives in a unionised environment and when appropriate with TPS Staff Connects (our employee representative group)
· Working to ICO guidelines and data protection legislation including meeting subject access requests
· HR based management and policy training: some direct delivery to groups, coaching one to one etc
· Travelling as and when required locally with frequency, and further in Scotland around once a month
· Participating positively as a member of the HR dept., the Head Office team and Turning Point Scotland
· Promoting the values and culture of Turning Point Scotland at all times
