The EIS is Scotland’s largest and most influential trade union and professional association for teachers and lecturers, with over 60,000 members working in all education sectors.
A key aim captured by our motto is ‘For the promotion of sound learning’. We believe that the full realisation of this aim requires an education system that has equality and social justice at its heart, for the benefit of pupils and students, teachers and lecturers alike. Join us in seeking to achieve it.
Duties of this post will include the promotion of equality in the interests of EIS members and learners within all sectors of Scottish education; national policy development, policy advice and support for EIS members on equality matters; supporting the servicing of the relevant EIS committees; representing the EIS at national level at meetings, conferences and seminars; and providing support to the EIS Equality Representatives network.
Applications from candidates with a strong background in equality policy, campaigning or advocacy, and previous or current involvement in a trade union, are particularly welcome.
As a trade union employer, the EIS is committed to the principles of social justice and equality. We therefore welcome applications from women, men and non-binary people of all ages; black and minority ethnic people; disabled people; and lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people, to work with us.
