Role

The role

You will work within our Communications and Influencing Directorate which will market and communicate the new charity, our work and impact to all those affected by breast cancer. This will be achieved through the provision of high quality information about breast cancer; ensuring the cause and patient voice is kept high on the policy, political and media agenda to influence policy and practice.

This is an exciting opportunity to work within the newly formed Policy, Evidence and Influencing team to achieve change for people with breast cancer. You will play a key role leading the development and delivery of a policy and public affairs strategy in Scotland. You will represent the charity at external meetings and oversee the design and delivery of public affairs plans in line with the charity’s strategic aims and policy calls. You will also support the roll out of major campaigning activity and act as a key spokesperson for the charity in Scotland, representing us in the media as well as with campaigners and senior stakeholders.

About you

You will have experience of developing written briefings for stakeholders, analysing data to support policy development, writing public affairs plans, developing written policy material and reports, and building strong external contacts. You will have a good understanding of the current health policy landscape as well as knowledge of UK parliamentary processes and legislative systems.

You will possess excellent communication skills and have demonstrable ability to work independently and as part of a team. You will lead and manage projects and plan and organise a busy workload and be required to travel on a regular basis to our London office, working outside of normal working hours on occasion and as necessary.

About us

We’re excited to announce that in April 2019, Breast Cancer Care and Breast Cancer Now united to create one charity for everyone affected by breast cancer. From research to care, our new charity has people affected by the disease at its heart – providing support for today and hope for the future. United, we can carry out even more world-class research, provide even more life-changing support and campaign even more effectively for better services and care.

By bringing together our passion, energy, expertise, funds and networks, we will make greater progress in more effective ways to make sure that, by 2050, everyone who develops breast cancer will live and receive the support they need to live well.
