Knightswood Community SCIO (KCSCIO) is recruiting an experienced Development Officer to lead on promoting and growing the use of the Centre by the local community and community groups and public/ third sector organisations, supporting these groups/ organisations to grow their own participant and service user numbers, and progressing the development of a neighbouring derelict swimming pool building as a community asset. The initial focus of the post will be on Centre marketing and community development.

KCSCIO manages and operates Knightswood Community Centre for and on behalf of the people of Knightswood. It works to strengthen Knightswood’s sense of community through the provision and programming of affordable and accessible social, cultural, recreational, educational, and health and fitness services and facilities. Its goal is for the Centre to be clearly identified and truly recognised as the centre of the community in Knightswood.

Reporting to the Centre Manager you will be responsible for implementing the organisation’s communication strategy, engaging with the community and community-focused organisations, and for coordinating and supporting a project steering group of local stakeholder organisations towards securing a viable use for the pool building.

You have skills and experience in using a range of tools and techniques to engage and communicate with a local community, in building and managing relationships with people and organisations, and in community development. You are a practical, reliable and efficient person that turns ideas into actions, organises the work that needs to be done, and carries out this work to plan.
