Project Worker – Domestic Abuse (Adult)

We are looking for a new team member within our Scottish Borders Domestic Abuse Support & Recovery Service, which offers support to children, young people, adults and their families who have experienced or are experiencing domestic abuse.

This presents an exciting opportunity to join our busy, friendly team, delivering support across the Scottish Borders, working from our base in Selkirk. Children 1st offer relational based support - you will take a restorative, strengths based and trauma sensitive approach and work in partnership with individuals and families to help them achieve their desired outcomes.

Support for adults and their families:

Working within a strong knowledge and awareness of gender based violence; you will support adults who are no longer at high risk of abuse. You will offer support on a medium to long term basis to help them to maintain their safety, aid their recovery from the impact of domestic abuse on their lives and achieve an improved sense of self worth and emotional wellbeing. In partnership with other agencies you will ensure that adults and their families are supported throughout their recovery. Whilst this post is to support adults, Children 1st take a family minded approach and recognise that the needs of any children in the family are of paramount importance. It is expected that you will have the skills and experience to support families and protect children who are impacted by domestic violence, as well as adults in their own right.

If you have experience, skills and knowledge of trauma recovery, the impact of domestic abuse within the understanding of gender based violence and experience of assessments, including risk assessment within domestic abuse we would like to hear from you. You should have a relevant higher qualification such as at SVQ level 4 or above, SCQF level 9 or above, degree or post-graduate level.

This is a fixed term, full time post of 35 hours a week to cover a period of maternity leave until 30 June 2020 (flexible working requests will be considered).
