SAMH’s George Street Support Service in Aberdeen provides 24/7 specialist support to 6 adults who have severe and enduring mental illnesses and complex needs. Established in the heart of Aberdeen City for over a decade, the service has a widely regarded reputation for excellence in delivering person-centred care based on the fundamental principles of empowerment, self-determination, resilience and hope.
As Senior Support Worker, you will be responsible for managing the caseload for staff within the team and ensuring that clinical practice is of a consistently high standard. Your role will also include supporting the Registered Manager with some aspects of the day to day operational management of the project. Extensive experience of support worker role in similar field and an SVQ 3 in Care or equivalent is essential; SVQ4 and a management qualification would be desirable as is previous management or Senior Support Worker experience. You should have experience of working with service users who have severe and enduring mental health support needs as well as addictions and additional complex needs.
Although predominantly working weekdays during normal office hours, applicants should be flexible in the hours they are available to work, as the post holder may occasionally be required to work evenings, weekends and waking night duty. You will also be required to participate in the local on-call arrangements.
