Role

ABOUT:

Scran Academy is a dynamic and fast-growing catering business with a difference! We are a social enterprise that aims to improve the confidence and employability skills of some of Edinburgh’s most vulnerable young people.

ROLE PURPOSE:

This is an exciting opportunity to lead and shape Scran Academy’s food and catering services on a day-to-day basis. We are looking for a dynamic self-starter who knows and loves the food and service world. The purpose is to be responsible for the catering operations of Scran, largely by helping introduce our new food gift menu, manage our pop-up meal nights and ultimately help secure a sustainable catering income. An eye for growing a business and inspiring young people are huge bonuses! The main focus is a vibrant, positive person who can manage our food and be a great point of contact with clients.

You will be joining a small, inspiring and flexible team based in North Edinburgh. This role suits someone who enjoys a flexible work life and spends time not just making food, but making a difference. Managed by our founder, and working alongside our Youth Development Coordinator and regular volunteers.

HOURS & BENEFITS:

The position is 21 hours per week, salary £24,000 pro rata from 37.5 hours. Post is initially for up to one year. Scran Academy operates Thursdays and Fridays. The remaining hours will be determined as mutually agreed and required. This (surprise surprise in catering) will involve evening and weekend work.

This post attracts the legally required employers pension contribution and 33 days annual leave, inclusive of a public holiday allowance. You will benefit from an inspiring and ever-changing workplace. As a new member of our small team, you will also enjoy a high level of creative control to advise and support our development. Additional training on social enterprise and charities, youth work and child protection as well as leadership opportunities, will be offered.
