Role

We are truly ambitious for the young people of Scotland – are you?

If you share our ambition, working for Aberlour could be the most rewarding experience of your life

Aberlour is one of the largest Children’s Charities in Scotland. Over the last year we have continued to grow in size and strength opening four new services and expanded the reach of a further five. We have two new services opening in May and a further eight in discussion. We have never been busier and need the support of professionals who share our ambitions to develop quality services to reach even more children and families.

Our values are at the heart of everything we do. We have just developed our latest strategy ‘Being Brave for children, young people and families’ setting our ambitions and targets over the next five years. We are continuing to embracing new possibilities around digitalisation which we believe can enhance and support service development and advance our plans to develop the organisation.

The opportunities

We have a vacant post supporting our disability services across Fife and Lothian - residential, respite, outreach and our new housing support service.

Due to growth, we are looking for an additional Assistant Director to support services across Tayside. These cover a wide range of sectors including disability home support, residential child care and community based family support.

We may also have a further opportunity for an additional Assistant Director within Central Scotland.

The person

If you are a progressive, motivated professional who knows what it takes to develop new innovative solutions that support young people and the commissioners of services, alongside ensuring sustainability and safeguarding as priorities for all your services, we’d love to hear from you.

You will provide leadership and external management, identify opportunities for growth and work with our business development team to secure income streams to meet the changing needs of vulnerable children, young people and their families.

Applicants should have management level experience within the public, private or voluntary sector with direct experience of both management of services and liaison with local government, NHS or alternative funding commissioners. You will also be driven to influence local and national strategy, policy and practice to the benefit of vulnerable people.

The successful post holder will hold a relevant professional social care or social work qualification at SCQF level 9 or above plus a management qualification at SCQF level 8 or above. They will also have a broad current knowledge of Scottish social policy and child care legislation.
