DYW Glasgow was one of the first regional working groups to be set up to decrease the levels of youth unemployment following the ‘Wood Report’ and has been established since 2014. This role is an opportunity to be part of a Scottish Government national youth employability and skills initiative. You will have a strong focus on education and business in Glasgow but also have the chance to carry out project work across Scotland all of which have strong youth employability focus.

The role involves developing and managing industry and education links, guiding, and supporting businesses to recruit young people. You will manage a broad portfolio of projects with multiple stakeholders, which supports the objectives of DYW Glasgow. You will be responsible for providing business engagement covering a range of activity including the development of formal Schools and Business Partnerships, broad industry links with education, promotion of the apprenticeship family as well as thematic work to support the city’s economic priorities. Key to the success of the role is a stakeholder engagement and relationship management with private, public and third sector stakeholders.

This is a demanding and externally facing role as part of the Projects Team within Glasgow Chamber of Commerce. This is an exciting opportunity to deliver innovative and potentially high-profile project activity within the business community and work in partnership with a wide range of stakeholders.

Job Description

The role will work to develop innovative and creative strategies to engage businesses in a full range of activities which support opportunity for young people utilising the findings of commissioned reporting as a guide and rationale. You will support those businesses to become engaged in a suite of activity to create lasting impact and influence the curriculum and increase employability for young people. The ideal candidates will be able work with a broad range of key stakeholders and businesses and have the ability identify, project manage and capitalise on opportunities. They will be a self-motivated individual who can manage a range of diverse projects and deliver an engagement plan for all stakeholders.

You will deliver this with guidance and leadership from the Project Manager and Programme Director.

Key Responsibilities

• Working towards the fulfilment of pre-set KPIs, other performance indicators and set targets.
• Use creative marketing and networking to involve industry in the delivery of activity which supports education in the programme of work.
• Working with school coordinators and key partners in education services to provide a range of innovative DYW activity is delivered across schools in the city and ensuring that those most of need of interventions are offered them.
• Develop effective relationships and joint working practices with key partners such as Skills Development Scotland and Glasgow City Council
• Deliver impact on key equalities issues by working with partnership key bodies in Glasgow and Scotland as a whole
• Devise and deliver innovative events which progress the DYW agenda i.e., Jobs Fairs, Digital Skills, Employer Inspiration Briefings as well as linking with curriculum delivery.
• Manage the delivery and monitoring of the impact of projects supported by DYW funding.
• Reviewing the success of delivery and adapt and develop as required.
• Recording information for reporting purposes
• Delivering any other relevant duties which may be required.

• Experience of partnership working across the education or employability sectors.
• Clear evidence of ability to communicate effectively at senior management level where appropriate.

• Ability to identify gaps and opportunities, creating solutions and acting upon these in a proactive and engaging manner.
• Excellent organisational skills and ability to work under pressure and deliver to tight deadlines with minimal resources.
• A passion for playing a role in making a difference to the city by working directly with the business community in partnership with key stakeholders.

• Experience of working in a school or college environment.

The role

The Enterprise Development Manager will have responsibility for leading the development and implementation of new trading activities for the organisation. The successful candidate will play a key role in the diversification of funding streams across the organisation, leading and supporting the successful development of trading enterprise for the charity. This is a front facing role and you will be required to develop and nurture strategic partnerships and work closely with partners to generate unrestricted income.

This work will involve close collaboration with the public, private, and third sectors. We are looking for someone with an understanding and experience of working across sectors, establishing relationships, and taking an innovative approach to income generation.

You will work with staff, board members, volunteers, and partners to create a viable, vibrant, and valued enterprise development strategy that serves our purpose.

This role will support and promote SSF’s strategic goals of Developing People, Improving Health and Wellbeing, and Strengthening Communities.

Main duties:

· Increase trading income – taking existing products to new markets and working with the Senior Team to develop new products for existing markets

· Lead on developing relationships, this is a key front facing role

· Identify and follow up key prospects to buy SSF products

· Establish and cultivate potential partnerships: third sector, public, corporate and sponsorship opportunities

· Relationship management utilising CRM system

Intercultural Youth Scotland (IYS) are a grassroots, youth-led organisation supporting and advocating for young Black people and young people of colour in Scotland. We offer specialist support to young BPOC and advocate across Scottish Government for their voices to be heard. Including a fully-fledged youth service offering a weekly youth club, girls group, and music program; an education program delivering anti-racism education at several Scottish secondary schools; a mental health program offering free support to young BPOC; as well as the Restless Natives employability program of which you will become a valuable part. Restless Natives offers specialist 1-to-1 support to BPOC school leavers to ensure they reach positive destinations. Restless Natives also supports employers to ensure that they’re doing all they can to improve their workplaces for BPOC. The Restless Natives Schools Coordinator is responsible for the smooth running of IYS’ pilot Restless Natives in Schools program across four schools in Edinburgh and Glasgow. Restless Natives in schools is an employability and support service helping young Black people and people of colour realise their potential. The coordinator will be responsible for embedding Restless Natives practitioners into schools, reporting and monitoring on performance, and making sure the support is effective in getting school leavers to positive destinations. The coordinator will ensure effective communication between IYS, Developing the Young Workforce (DYW – The Scottish Government’s youth employment strategy), and the schools. The coordinator will also be the conduit between Restless Natives in Schools and IYS’ other programs, making sure that learnings are shared and that Restless Natives’ relationships with schools is maximised.
