In January 2017, SAMH introduced a new suite of services throughout the whole of Aberdeenshire to help people with mental health problems and autism strengthen their self-resilience.
Around since 1923, SAMH is Scotland’s national mental health charity. Today, SAMH operates 60 services in communities across Scotland providing mental health social care support, homelessness, addictions and employment services among others. These services, together with our national programme work in See Me, respectme, suicide prevention and active living; inform our policy and campaign work to influence positive social change.
As SAMH continue on this exciting pathway, we are seeking a flexible, enthusiastic and qualified Counsellor to work with individuals and volunteers within local communities across Aberdeenshire.
As a key member of The Listening Project service in Aberdeenshire you will recruit, train, develop and support a team of Listening Volunteers to deliver a confidential listening service.
As an experienced Counsellor in time limited, confidential counselling you will ensure that we utilise solutions focussed counselling to directly support people accessing the service with complex needs.
Although this role may include working across the whole of Aberdeenshire, the post holder’s main focus of work will be concentrated within the south of the area. Ability to work evenings and weekends in a requirement of this post. A valid driving licence and access to own vehicle are also a requirement for the post.
Applications are welcome from people who have experienced mental health difficulties. A PVG check is required for this post, along with a Right to Work in the UK check. Candidates will also be required to provide proof of qualifications declared on the application form.
