MECOPP is Scotland’s leading Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) carers’ organisation providing a range of support services to carers and cared for people from BME and other marginalised communities.
This is a new post which will have lead responsibility for two areas of activity: informing and influencing the development of carers and aligned policy areas both locally and nationally; and the development and delivery of awareness-raising, training and capacity building opportunities to existing carer support services and wider BME/equalities organisations.
The post holder will work closely with the CEO to:
• Raise awareness of caring and ensure that all those with caring responsibilities know their rights and can access the support and assistance they are entitled to.
• Ensure that diversity of all Carers' voices across all ages and communities are heard and understood.
• Ensure that all Carers rights are understood and upheld by statutory and voluntary sector services.
• Ensure that all Carers are served by sustainable and well-equipped local services which are able to respond to diverse needs.
A key focus for the delivery of this work will be the existing Carer Centre Manager’s Network which supports local carer services across Scotland. The post holder will also actively participate in the National Carer Organisations Network and Policy sub-group. A work plan has already been agreed with the funder and this will be the basis of all tasks and responsibilities.
