The Job
The purpose of the job is to provide a self-help service which supports people to develop tools and techniques to
better manage mild to moderate mental health issues.
Building Resilience for a Better Home
LinkLiving will provide supported self-help coaching for housing association tenants who are at risk of losing their
tenancies due to a range of problems associated with low to moderate levels of mental health issues.
Coaching will be delivered remotely (telephone or video link) with up to nine sessions where tenants will learn
techniques to manage their mental health and therefore be in a position to be able to better manage their lives,
engage with their communities and sustain their tenancies.
Aims
- Tenants previously at risk of losing their tenancy will learn techniques to manage their tenancy better and
therefore to stay in their home.
- Having gained skills for life tenants will have learnt resilience and
built confident, and be able to manage anxiety, stress and anger to:
- manage their tenancy such as dealing
with debt including utility bills, rent non-payment and hoarding;
- manage their relationship with their
neighbours leading to less anti-social behaviours; c) have the confidence to engage more in their local
community including with specialist support services, e.g. social work, substance misuse or hoarding
charities.

About You
You will need to be able to demonstrate your commitment to LinkLiving’s 4 key values, which are:

kindness and concern for others)
You will be educated to a minimum of SCQF Level 7 (or equivalent) or equivalent relevant experience. The successful
postholder will have knowledge of issues affecting people who are excluded and marginalized and a working
knowledge of mental health self-help resources and a commitment to their use.
You will be able to actively contribute to team working and have an ability to building equal and positive
relationships with people, with demonstrable experience of using a person centred approach.
As Self Help Coach, you will have a proactive approach to managing own wellbeing in the role and the ability to
manage ongoing risk, problem solve and remain calm in a crisis. The successful postholder will have good
communication skills in a variety of situations and should demonstrate empathy and active listening. Sensitivity
and responsiveness to people’s emotional and social health is essential for this role. The Self Help Coach will
the ability to collect data and maintain records and will have a flexible, practical and reliable approach.
