Adoption UK is the leading charity providing support, community, and advocacy for all those parenting or supporting children who cannot live with their birth parents.

We connect adoptive families, provide information and signposting on a range of adoption-related issues and campaign for improvements to adoption policy and legislation at the highest levels. With over 8,000 members, we provide a strong, supportive community and are the largest voice of adopters in the UK.

The Role:

We have an exciting opportunity for a Community Engagement Lead to join our team in Scotland. The purpose of the role Is to support Adoption UK achieve positive change for adoptive families by bringing the voice of care experienced individuals into wider sector representation through engagement plans, youth focus groups and advisory boards.

Who you are:

Ideally you will have a degree or qualification in community work, youth work, social sciences etc, experience in youth/community engagement and a strong understanding of the Scottish care system and The Promise Plan, with ambition to create lasting change.

Responsibilities of the role:

Some of the main duties of the role will Include:

  • Developing policies and processes alongside care experienced individuals that influence wider service provision, and to represent these to the wider sector.
  • Facilitating youth groups and creating and supporting youth advisory boards.
  • Recruit, manage and support sessional youth workers to support youth activities across a variety of mediums
  • Leading on social media plans for youth engagement development
