We deliver services to better understand and respond effectively to unique challenges experienced by Armed Forces children and young people, with regard to mental health and wellbeing, education and the pursuit of positive futures. We nurture confidence and provide a platform to speak up for what matters most at a local, regional and national level. We bring Armed Forces young people from across Scotland together for life-changing experiences to develop skills and confidence as well as forge new friendships through shared experience, solidarity and support. We provide financial support to Armed Forces families experiencing considerable financial hardship throughout the COVID-19 Pandemic, as well as young carers, families affected by life-changing mental health and physical conditions and young people beginning their further/higher education journey towards positive futures.

About the role as Children and Family Services Manager

This newly created, two-year fixed contract role is an exciting opportunity to bring your passion, commitment and drive to lead and develop services to improve the mental health and wellbeing of Armed Forces young people and families across Scotland. You will be responsible for the operational management of our existing mental health and wellbeing services and contribute your knowledge, skills and experience to proactively develop, establish funding for and mobilise new services to respond effectively to the needs of Armed Forces young people and their families, via individual, group and peer-to-peer support models. You will be responsible for the supervision and support of our Your Minds Matter Digital Participation Officer as well as work with the wider to team to monitor, evaluate and report to funding partners. In the absence of our Grants Manager, you will also be responsible for the administration of our grant-award programmes.

About the person we are looking to join our team

To apply for the role of Children and Family Services Manager you will need to hold a relevant professional qualification within a relevant field and possess a minimum of five years experience working within children and young people’s mental health and wellbeing services. You will need proven experience co-producing and mobilising new services with children and young people as well as experience delivering trauma-informed services and working within a child protection framework. You will need strong interpersonal and organisational skills to work effectively within our small team, proven experience working with external partners and be able to use your own initiative and manage workload commitments to achieve outcomes. A strong breadth of knowledge within the field of mental health is essential as well as proven experience with regards to staff supervision and support.
