The main purpose of this role is to support the parent/carers of children and young people who are neurodivergent and who may have learning difficulties by providing information, advice and 1:1 support. Support may also be provided to young adults up to the age of 25. We operate a staged approach to enquiries. We have a small team of Family Advice Specialists who provide information and advice via email and telephone communication. In this role as a Family Outreach Specialist, you will work with those families requiring more intensive and personalised support and direct engagement.

The role involves telephone and email communication but importantly it also involves working directly with the families and often supporting them in meetings with professionals from Education, Health, Social Work, Justice and Third Sector, which will include virtual meetings where appropriate.

About the Role

We are looking to recruit a Speech & Language Therapist to work as part of Allied Health service within Upper Springland. You will be required to provide an effective speech and language therapy service to enable and support adults who have complex needs. You will support and enable them to have control, choice and equality in daily life to the benefit of their health and wellbeing.

You will provide specialist advice, supervision and clinical support to more junior therapists, and care staff.

You will ideally have a degree/diploma in Speech & Language Therapy and be HCPC registered. You will have clinical expertise which reflects evidence based practice in the specialist field of multiple and complex needs. The ability to manage and prioritise your own work load is essential as are well developed organisational and communication skills. You will have experience of good interdisciplinary working with a holistic outlook and delivering an effective customer focused service. Dysphagia and Alternative & Augmentative Communication (AAC) experience is essential.

Corseford College is seeking to appoint a team of student support workers who will provide care and support to students. The support you will provide is essential to ensuring our students can access their learning program. The role of a student support worker will vary, meaning no two days will be the same. From supporting the delivery of teaching, and learning as well as helping to support individuals with learning programmes and learning materials appropriate to the needs of the students.

Students at Corseford College will have a range of care and support needs. The needs of the students vary, some will be identified as having severe or profound multiple learning disabilities. They may also have physical and sensory impairments or a range of communication difficulties. Our students will have a range of support needs including in some cases requiring a high level of personal and intimate care needs which need to be met. This might include, administering medication, epilepsy management, gastrostomy feeding, moving and assisting and mealtime assistance. Full training and support will be provided to enable you to take on these roles.

Corseford College is Scotland’s first specialist college providing post-school education to this cohort. The college is aimed at Young People who have left or are leaving school with complex learning disabilities, aged 18-25. The college has been developed around the idea of enabling young people to continue to learn and engage in their education journey as they enter the adult world.

This post may require occasional travel to hospital sites in NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde to provide cover as and when required.

The Princess Alexandra Eye Pavilion, Eye Clinic Patient Support service provides a bridge between the clinic to the community. The successful post holder will enable seamless service provision, directly referring to Sight Scotland’s Visual Impairment Adult Rehabilitation and Mobility Services and Edinburgh Health and Social Care Social Work Locality Teams.
