This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role supporting blind and partially sighted people to live the life they want to lead by increasing the number of people RNIB reaches in their region and the number of volunteers engaged in delivering RNIB services.
RNIB’s Community Connection team is one of our main ways to interact with the community. It aims to connect blind and partially sighted people, their families, friends and supporters, with opportunities that enable individuals to live the life they choose, including education, employment, sport, leisure, volunteering and socialising.
It’s also a platform where people can connect with each other to offer peer support, exchange of information and opportunities to come together in person, over the phone and online. And finally, it also allows us to connect people affected by sight loss with all RNIB has to offer: our services, products, and opportunities to contribute, from fundraising to volunteering and campaigning.
As a Community Connection Coordinator, you will develop peer-to-peer, volunteer-led and community-based services with and for people affected by sight loss, across multiple channels (face to face, phone and online). Please note that in these extraordinary times you will be transitioning activities back to face-to-face activities, observing social distancing, managing risk and ensuring blind and partially sighted people feel connected in a world which has experienced more isolation than is usual for people living with sight loss.
To be successful in this very rewarding role you will be an effective communicator and have proven experience in customer engagement across multiple channels. You will also possess the ability to recruit, manage and develop volunteers effectively. You will be an RNIB ambassador, ensuring our volunteers have a positive and rewarding experience working with RNIB.
Knowledge and experience of working in the voluntary sector in the Central Belt of Scotland including Fife, Forth Valley, Stirling region would also be an advantage.
