At Options Lothian we offer a safe, homely environment for children and young people to come and stay for a short break that gives their families a rest from their caring role. During that break, children enjoy a range of fun activities and experiences with our staff who specialise in taking care of children with disabilities. Our service is very much a ‘home from home’ for the children who stay with us there. Our service is open from Fridays to Mondays every week.
What are we looking for?
We are looking for someone who is passionate about ensuring our young people live their best lives and have opportunities to develop and grow. Whilst not without its challenges and demands, this is a highly rewarding role. We are looking for someone who will contribute to the leadership, management and development of the service for children, young people and their families in line with agreed objectives and assist with service review and evaluation.
You will have relevant experience of working with children and young people with a disability and/or autism in a community/daycare or residential setting and understand the impact of disability on inclusion. You are required to meet the qualifications requirement for this post which is at SCQF Level 7 (e.g. HNC, SVQ Level 3) and a practice qualification in a management category or SVQ Social Services and Healthcare SCQF Level 9. This post requires you to register with the Scottish Social Services Council as a Residential Child Care Worker with Supervisory Responsibilities.
We are looking for an Assistant Manager who will work either 30 hours per week or 37.5 hours per week, we are willing to consider either. At least 25 hours of your contract will be worked on shift between Friday to Monday – this time will be split into direct work with our young people as part of our residential rota, also providing the occasional sleep over or night awake shift, and to offer managerial support to the staff during the weekends.
Why should you apply for this post? Well that’s easy…
