Support in Mind Scotland has a number of new exciting opportunities in its Tayside service for people who wish to support those with Mental Health needs. We are looking for caring empathic people who will be ready to help with compassion and understanding as well as humour and respect.
In these new roles, you will provide information, guidance and support to people in both one to one contact and groups. Personal Action Plansreflect individuals own goals and ambitions and take a recovery approach. Individual plans maximise income and consider other practical needs such as housing, employment, education and inclusion. We take a rights based approach to help empower and inform people, networking and advocating for them as necessary. Once a personal action plan is identified, the plan is delivered and reviewed within 6 months.
Together we want people to feel better about their mental as well as physical health, and as such feel connected and part of a local community where their voice matters.
Effective networking is at the heart of our service. You will work with colleagues and partners across the Tayside community to ensure people using our services needs are assessed and met.
Hearing Voices: Hearing Voices is an outreach service delivering one to one support, group sessions and remote support to people experiencing psychosis. Underpinned by a behavioural approach to the management of sensory disturbances and delivered within a model of peer support, this service enables individuals to shape their personal recovery. We place people we support at the centre of their own assessments and support packages where they identify their own goals to improve their circumstances and wellbeing and we support them to get the assistance they require within their community.
Resilience: Our proposed new Resilience Service will provide early information and support to people across Tayside who require assistance with their mental health needs. This early intervention and prevention model enabling access to joined-up services is a tested approach we currently deliver across Fife. The service will link people to a range of supports and providers across Tayside to identify needs early and together prevent unnecessary degeneration in someone’s mental health through promoting resilience and recovery.
CUThru: This post will engage with young people referred to Tayside’s Child and Mental Health Services (CAMHS) focussing on the Perth & Kinross area at this preliminary stage. SiMS wishes to promote its support to 16- to 24-year-olds and has been funded by the Perth & Kinross Mental Health Partnership to engage with young people to identify support and information they would like that would contribute to the following outcomes:
The service will build relations with CAMHS colleagues as well as supports and providers to enable young people to integrate into their local community and minimise the need for statutory or hospital-based services.
All services will benefit from use of Support in Mind Scotland’s National Information Service and Money Advice Service provided in conjunction with Mental Health UK.
Who are we looking for
The ideal candidates should be interested in people, have excellent social skills and a good sense of humour!
Support in Mind Scotland values lived experience and would welcome applications from people with this experience and experience supporting people with their mental health.
The successful candidate will work as part of an experienced supportive team and will receive induction and regular support and supervision to help them in their role.
The successful candidates may be educated to SVQ 3 level or have lived and work experience in mental health. They may have experience of personal planning, have some experience of assessments and some insight in the law with relation to Mental Health. Training and support will be available to successful applicants.
The successful candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme. A full driving license and access to a vehicle is highly beneficial to these roles.
