Who are we?

Deaf Action are a deaf-led charity working together for an equal and better future for all deaf people since 1835. We have a range of transformative projects and services which support our aim of improving the quality and conditions of life for deaf people in Scotland.

Purpose of the post:

We have an exciting opportunity for a proactive individual to join our team as the Assistant Youth Service Coordinator.

Reporting directly to the Youth Service Coordinator, you will assist with the day to day running of the service including general administration work, liaising with parents and other stakeholders, event management, chaperoning and assisting at activities & events, conducting monitoring and evaluation tasks and more.

The ideal candidate will be someone with:

  • Experience of working with or being in the deaf* community
  • Strong organisational, interpersonal and inclusive communication skills.
  • The ability to manage both time and workload
  • Strong IT and digital skills
  • The ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships with colleagues, sessional youth workers, service users, their families and other professionals in the deaf* community.
  • A willingness to attend British Sign Language classes if you are not already proficient.
  • PVG scheme eligibility (if not already registered).

deaf* is a general term to include Deaf British Sign Language users, deafened, hard of hearing, and deafblind people.
