“Hi, my name is Mark and I live in Giffnock, in Glasgow. I am looking for a person to help support me in my daily life."
I have a superb sense of humour and I’m looking for whoever works with me to have one as well, so we can build good rapport. To support me, you need to be able to enter my world, which will involves talking to me through objects, like my friends Mariella and Curly Hair, which are in movies.
I enjoy watching “The Chase” and “Tipping Point”. I like people to watch these with me as I really enjoy the interaction during these shows.
I like helicopters and enjoy visiting the helipad to watch them spin. I enjoy keeping in touch with my family and I have a routine I like to keep. Routine is important to me and I want someone to support me with this. I also like to go for drives in my car to spot black cabs – a game I enjoy playing with my team of support. It’s important that someone can help me with this, so they would need to be able to drive.”
About the Role
As part of our dynamic team, you will be involved in working with us to make Mark’s life fulfilling and support him with daily living.
What is important for Mark is your ability to build and maintain a positive relationship, taking his needs into account and his preferences.
We provide extensive training and support to our staff, so whilst years of experience are nice, it’s not necessary. However, good values are essential and an understanding of autism is useful. If you’re the kind of person who wants to build a relationship with Mark and help him achieve his goals, we want to hear from you.
Working with Capability Scotland brings you lots of benefits:
