Role

Volunteer Centre East Lothian is a vibrant local charity which works to ensure that local people and organisations can thrive. We work with our dedicated volunteers to provide the support people need to live happy, healthy lives. The Community Taskforce is part of the East Lothian Caring Communities Initiative that will offer local people with support from volunteers, stay connected with their communities by working to alleviate loneliness, reduce social isolation, improve health and wellbeing and making communities stronger through volunteering.

The Coordinator will play a key role in delivering our high-quality services for people living in the East Lothian. You will be responsible for assessing the needs of the older people referred to us and tailoring the support offered to them based on their individual needs and interests.

Our service will offer an ad hoc task orientated service, volunteer befriending; exercise, social and activity groups; a regular newsletter. In this role you will take the lead for delivery for our practical support tasks, this support includes a shopping service that was established during the pandemic, gardening, and odd jobs around the house. We also occasionally gain funding to make a specific offer to service users.

The Coordinator will be required to keep accurate and up-to-date records on our shared database and help maintain positive relationships with external partners in East Lothian, as well as our other local partners.

Volunteer Centre East Lothian is a great place to work, offering excellent working benefits and a healthy work-life balance. Benefits include: generous holiday entitlement; a pension scheme; an employee assistance programme; and childcare vouchers. We are committed to supporting the professional development and wellbeing of our staff.

We are an equal opportunities employer with a strong commitment to respecting diversity and promoting equality of opportunity. We welcome applications from all sections of the community.
